Feels like Poetic Cloth !
My copy of Poetic Cloth has literally just arrived. From the moment of unwrapping the packaging I knew this book was going to be special. The feel of the cover is wonderful, so soft & tactile with a beautiful richness visually. Inside are pages of quality images of Hannah’s work and that of other textile artists with a similar empathy. Everything about it is in an easy comfortable fashion which I am itching to explore. It is rather lovely......but then I knew it would be as Hannah was my tutor on the BA Surface Design & Textile Degree course at Bradford School of Art. And, though a mature student in my mid 60’s, I got a 1st class Honours Degree. Now got my tutor in a book !

A 5 star addition to your textile library
Bought this book on the basis of the first review here and it doesn't disappoint. This book is for anyone who is interested in taking their textile art to the next level. It goes through various types and techniques of working with cloth from stitching and making a mark, to ageing, cyanotypes, darning etc. It is a very good mixture of technique and philosophy. I wouldn't say it was for a beginner. I have done a few short courses on textile art and this book is a great jumping off point to keep me going. This is also a great book for painters and other visual artists who have never explored working with cloth. I have all of textile artist Cas Holmes' books, so if you are a fan of hers, then this book is a must too. Whereas Holmes' books are more personal in nature, Lamb has a little bit more focus on teaching you how to expand your own thoughts and practice. If we are talking poetic cloth... one thing the book might briefly have touched on is textiles that have cultural/ancestral connotations. While the concept of Wabi-sabi, is used in the book as a kind of catch all for embracing the 'imperfect', some non Western cultures have a very deep rooted connection to cloth and colours, and it would have been lovely to hear her thoughts on how to use this as an artist. A wonderful book by Hannah Lamb.

Beautiful book, a treasure trove of textile techniques.
An absolutely beautiful book, from the cloth bound cover to the wonderful photographs and clear information throughout. I had bought this on preorder and it didn't disappoint. It is packed full of inspiration and techniques to give you the confidence to have a go by yourself. There are lots of examples and clear explanations along with what you are likely to need and suggestions as to where to get your basic tools and materials from. This book is invaluable for anybody wanted to begin experimenting with textiles. I'm loving the section on cyanotype and feel I may even pluck up the courage to have a go by myself. Where has this book been all my life, its certainly one to treasure that I will keep dipping into to time and time again. Perfect for those who are just starting out to the more experienced Its worth all its stars and more.

Awesome!
I really like this book because it is filled with clearly stated insights into the meanings behind the work.I have been inspired and challenged by its content and so have my students have benefitted! It’s filled with rationale and practical approaches where other textile art books fall short. I highly recommend Hannah Lambs first book! I hope there are more to follow

Beautiful and clear.
A beautifully produced book with inspiring projects. A lovely gift for this who are exploring their creativity not just in textiles but I can see these projects reading well for enamel artists, potters and silversmiths.
