In looking at the product I determined that with some modification, the hinges would work and will not break. Open the hinge and remove the tab on both sides containing the nib that keeps the hinge closed.Second: Water alone is not going to clean the razor. I put a drop of dish detergent in the stand before I fill it with water. Then rinse the razor with soapy water. The razor comes clean and there is no stubble or residue left in the stand when emptied.It is a shame that the stand is not properly designed and that it comes with no cleaning instructions.
