Teeny Tiny Spice Co of Vermont Organic Afghani Spice, 2.8 Oz

These people make great traditional “ethnic” spice mixtures. If you have traveled much , you know that spices like Ras el Hanout and Harissa are traditional to certain areas and every family in their region has their own variants, modifying the proportionality of the spice elements and often adding a “secret” ingredient that only grandma knows and carries on her at all times. This small family operation does a great job of finding a happy medium amongst the possibilities. And they started the trend in these “ethnic” spice mixes while living at the time in a hidden valley in Vermont. So I stick with them. Multi repeat purchaser and sharer with others.

This Afghani Spice blend, non-GMO and certified organic, is milder than some of the other flavors offered by Teeny Tiny Spice Co. of Vermont, in case you should be cooking for guests who aren't partial to spices that pack a kick. Our can (it's empty now) had a recipe for Curried Carrots on the lid, and this blend goes well with all sorts of veggies. The ingredients include black peppercorn, cumin, turmeric, coriander, cardamom seed, green cardamom, sweet cinnamon, nutmeg, Nigella, clove, and Himalayan pink salt--again, it's a gentle medley, not overpowering. My Teeny Tiny Spice Co. spices have always been fresh on arrival and keep well in their [rodent-proof] metal can.

Boy do I love this company and the spices they mix. The true mark of a perfect mix is that no single "note" stands out. That's the case here, for sure.

This company continues to be one of my favorites for spices. The spices are a very high-quality, enhance any dish that I prepared, and have also made wonderful gifts. I highly recommend this company and their products.
