Great in knowing the feelings and actions of a person going through grief.
I liked the book very much. I lost my husband in March of this year and the information was very helpful as well as references to websites included in the book.

This book will be helpful to any grieving spouse. I recommend it.
This book is brilliant in the way the writer helps the reader live healthfully with his or her grief. It reminds us that everyone's grief is unique, and though we can be there for others who are grieving, we must remember that nobody knows how they really feel. There are several ideas for helping those who suffer loss, and ways to open conversations. I recommend this to those who are suffering and their loved ones.

This is a book right from the heart
As a Grief Counselor, I've read many books about death and grieving. This book, by Gary Roe, speaks to the heart and soul of grief based on the countless of people he has touched as a hospice chaplain and beyond. It is written in plain language, and very simply laid out in format. This is important because when we are grieving, we tend to lose order in our lives and need someone to gently lead us away from the chaotic nature of a day where feelings ebb and flow. It also contains journaling pages, asking certain questions such as: "If I were to make a list of words describing how I've felt since losing my spouse, I would say . . . " The pages feature scriptural passages pertaining to grief - beautifully done. If you have a friend or relative who has experienced the loss of a spouse, or if you have lost a spouse yourself, this is the book you want to order.

Short with some impact
Liked : From review of the table of contents there are may statements/feelings that I am experiencing. In that respect it WAS helpful. It does pretty much cover all the emotions and is sure to hit home. Also there is really no order to this so you can jump around if you want. May also be useful to just read one topic daily in the morning.Disliked: Just be aware that each chapter/topic is only about 3/4 of a page with many blank pages inserted for journaling. What is written is basically the feelings of others related to the topic. Despite being 170 pages I pretty much went through it in an hour.Overall: It will definitely stir up emotion and will be relatable. I would probably not have purchased it if I had say picked it up in a bookstore and thumbed through it but I'm sure it would be helpful if journaling is something you are interested in.

Harrowing but helpful.
My husband recently died and I am devastated. I looked for helpful books on the subject of grief and found Heartbroken. I read it in one sitting and so much within it's pages resonated with my own feelings that I sobbed my way through every word. It's many contributers let you know that, however you feel, you are far from alone. I will read it again more slowly.
