InSinkErator Badger 5 Garbage Disposal with Power Cord, Badger Series 1/2 HP Continuous Feed Food Waste Disposer

I replaced an existing Insinkerator product so I could use the bracket already installed on the sink. Installation was fairly simple once I figured out how to connect the brackets before twisting it on. It is very quiet, better than the old unit.

The InSinkErator Badger 5 works great and was easy to install. The included power cord made the installation more convenient. It runs smoothly, has plenty of power for everyday kitchen use, and is a good value for the price. I’m very satisfied with this purchase!

I am a new homeowner and the thought of replacing my own garbage disposal had me convinced I was going to flood my kitchen. I almost just paid someone to do it. Glad I didn’t. It took less than 45 minutes and was very straightforward. **If you have a dishwasher, read this before you start.** There is a plastic knockout plug inside the side inlet that you have to punch out before connecting your dishwasher line. You do it by literally hammering a piece of plastic inside a brand new disposal, which feels like you are breaking it. It is supposed to happen, but do this before you mount the unit. If you do it beforehand, you can just turn the unit upside down and the plastic disc falls right out. If you wait until it is already hooked up to your plumbing, you will have to fish that little disc out from inside the unit. Learn from my mistake. Do it on the workbench first. **On septic systems.** I specifically chose this model because we are on a septic system. High horsepower disposals grind food into a fine slurry that can clog a drain field over time. The 1/2 HP Badger 5 is a better fit. The goal on septic is to use it as little as possible anyway. It is there to catch the occasional scrap that makes it into the drain, not for everyday food waste. Noise: Quieter than my old unit but not a whisper quiet disposal. Running empty it hovers around 72 to 73 dB and spikes to 75 to 76 when actually grinding something. Check my video for the actual meter readings in real time. For context, disposals are generally in the 70-95dB range so this lands right at the lower end of that. Noticeable but not disruptive. Size: Very compact. Frees up real cabinet space under the sink compared to bulkier models. Check my photos showing it mounted with a tape measure for actual clearance. Value: Cheaper here than at the hardware store and the power cord comes pre-installed which saved me extra time and money. Install: Straightforward swap if you take your time. The Lift and Latch mounting system is simple and you can do it solo. Solid unit. If I can do it, you can too. You’ve got this.

Great product. It was a simple install if you follow the instructions. Make sure to have plumber putty handle cause you will need it.

Installed easily. Runs like it should. Cord could stand to be 6" longer. Almost didn't reach the outlet.

I bought this on Amazon to replace the same model after ten plus years. It’s helpful to watch a YouTube video beforehand showing how to install it. If you have a dishwasher make sure to knockout the plastic in the place where you connect the hose before you install anything. Everything was very easy to install, using the existing parts that were mounted to my sink. Probably took 20 minutes total. Buy one with a power cord if you have a switched outlet as it saves you from having to wire the electrical hook up. Newer unit is much quieter than the old one. Excellent purchase and Amazon’s price was much better than Home Depot or Lowe’s.

Use as a quick replacement for badger 100 model, and it works perfectly. Easy to install (~15 mins), more powerful than the badger 100 model, and noise level is acceptable.

Product is horrible and couldn’t get in touch with th seller

this seems to be american with american plugs and so on. i have had 2 electricians to look at it and they won't fit it becauase it works on 110 volts not 240 here in england. If it is fitted the current here will make it blow. so unfortunately i am sending it back.

Si libera gratamente de los desperdicios orgánicos no deseados porque algunos son de buen uso pero hay otros que realmente no. Funciona muy bien y es muy práctico siguiendo las instrucciones de operación en el orden correcto. El ruido no es incómodo y tiene muy buena potencia para triturar. Yo solicité la instalación a un plomero y realmente me dejó satisfecho. Lo instaló en 2 1/2 hrs con todo y botón de aire y contacto bajo la tarja.
