Automatic Sliding Gate Opener with Remote Control Transmitters and Infrared Photocell Sensor - Chain Driveway Security Door Operator Kit (for 1800lb & 40ft Gate, AT1800)

The media could not be loaded. Revised - been ion place for over a year and still working well. Easy to install. I can't believe how far away this remote works. Very pleased with that. I would say 100 yards away and it is on the other side of a concrete block wall. It operates slowly so I still have to wait a bit to enter but that is ok. I had a re-opening safety beam sensor that did not work and the mfr gladly and quickly sent another one. It is powerful. I added a spring to each end because my gate is not light and I wanted a little give on the start. I used porch swing springs for that. It gives just a little when the motor starts which I think is better overall for the parts involved.

This is the 2nd time I purchased the Gatexpert kit. 1st one did it's job and lasted over 2 years. That was using it way more than recommended, probably 40+ times a day. The only part I had to replace in the 2 years was the sensors (must of got wet). The chain held up.The instruction manual doesn't have all of the directions for installation, so you'll need to watch a couple of online videos (and some of those aren't detailed or narrated). Try to pre-assemble some of the parts prior to install, it'll make it easier when you're putting it on the gate. I used a cut power cord to temporarily plug in and program the remotes and keypad (instead of doing it at the gate like I did the 1st time).The sensors are decent and don't have to be exact. Test the placement without the chain on prior to install.Only program one button on each remote. If you exceed the max of 25, it'll automatically start to cancel out previously programmed remotes. I ended up ordering the accessory to add more remotes, which actually extended the range of the antenna.Note: the gate doesn't automatically close if you manually stop it with the remote before it opens all the way. So remember to click the remote again if you're using it for pedestrians.

*update as of 9/18/22*Still going strong with ZERO issues!The other gate on our property was installed with a mighty mule slide gate opener, and it has had many, many issues.Original review:Our 20 year old opener died, so I was in the market to replace it. I couldn't see spending $1200 for a similar (though with a few more features) model when I could get this one for $200. I have a 600 lb. 18 ft. gate running on a v-track. I emailed the seller with a few questions regarding the ability of this opener to interface with some of our current accessories as well as a specific new keypad/camera/mobile app device. They were very responsive, but I don't think they understood my questions, even with my including the schematics/manuals for the products I was wanting to connect. They told me none would work. Once they sent me the manual, and I was able to see the schematics, it was pretty clear to me that any device that uses a relay to actuate a normally open switch will work with this opener. Opener is TINY compared to my old unit! Install is very straightforward. Already had the concrete pad, so a hammer drill and concrete anchors made short work of the physical install. The biggest hassle is, like others have mentioned, having to fabricate brackets to mount the sensor magnets. The ones provided are just too short. I was able to grab some metal stock laying around and weld on a couple of mounts. A tip when fabbing brackets and testing magnet position is to utilize the sprocket release latch, and manually move the gate back and forth. This way you don't accidentally slam the gate closed or open it too far and run it off the tracks. Once you have it close, then try using the remote, but be quick to stop it if needed and adjust. Regarding accessories: While it is true that the built in remove receiver will only work with the Gatexpert remotes, THIS OPENER WILL (not a typo) WORK WITH HOMELINK OR INTELLICODE REMOTES, provided you get an aftermarket universal remote receiver that uses a power, common, and wallbutton connections. Basically you connect the power required by the receiver to the receiver's power and common terminals, and then connect the common and wallbutton terminals to the common and normally open (NO) connections on the opener circuit board. I am using an old Genie Universal Receiver that I got a quite a few years back at a local box store. Our old car sensor buried along our driveway also still works because it is connected using the sensor's common and N.O. wires to the opener's Common and N.O. connections. Finally, I got a sweet new keypad with a camera, speaker, microphone, and wifi capability. It allows us to see and speak with someone at the gate and then open it, all from the mobile app. We can also create multiple entry codes in the unit as well. If you are interested, search on Amazon for "GBF New Upgraded -Global Wireless Video Doorphone & Doorbell WI-FI Intercom" Guess how the new keypad connects to the opener..wait for it...the common and N.O. connectors on the keypad connect to the same common and N.O. connectors as all the other devices are connected in the opener. Heck...I even was able to connect the Sherriff's emergency keybox opener using the same connection scheme! I haven't hooked up the infrared safety sensors yet, because I am researching if I can find reflective sensors so that I don't have to try and run cable under the driveway to the other side of the gate opening.Final verdict? No long term reliability data yet, but this Gatexpert opener is a lot of bang for the buck.

At this low price compared to the more recognized brand names, I was skeptical if this opener would be worth it. But this gate opener works just fine. Once you have a rolling gate setup and moving smoothly, this is not too hard to install. Chances are, if you are willing to do this yourself, you have the skills to get this installed with minimal effort. Gettting the wiring run for the power and sensors is the biggest job.

I'm giving this 5 stars only because it does work, BUT it is a very lightweight unit! I almost returned it when I opened the box cause it was so small! It needs a very strong base built from concrete like shown in pics, if u dont have the ability to do this step do NOT buy cause it will pull out of the ground! Price was low for what it is compared to others out there so I figured I would try it. The instructions are very Vague! U just have to figure things out as u go. I probably will NOT buy this again but it does work so far! I waited to do this review after it was installed and working for a few days. This is a very time consuming process

Seems like a great opener if you are an expert. If you are using a chain link fence I would avoid it. I would also avoid it if you don't plan to install a vtrack, and I would avoid it if you don't have a lot of time to make it just right. requires a lot of tuning.Magnetic stoppers leave a lot to be desired, since it has to be so close or it wont trip, and then my chain link had a little wobble to it. If it doesn't shut off it will run off the rails and burn up the motor, the motor has no way to realize its "struggling" and shut itself off... mounting the magnetic stoppers took a day by itself, trying to rig something reliable up.Ametuers beware, not an easy weekend project.
