**Q: If male connector is plugged into charging port, does female and micro usb end both receive power?**
A: Yes. If you plug the male Type A jack of this cable into a charging port, the micro USB jack and the female Type A jack will both receive power. HOWEVER, if I assume you're trying to use this cable to both power a smartphone/tablet and a USB peripheral (like a mouse, keyboard, or flash drive), my answer changes to "No, in almost all situations". Whether the micro USB jack can be used to charge a device, say, a smartphone, at the same time as the device plugged into the female jack will depend on the software/firmware of your device. Many Android smartphones out of the box are not capable of hosting USB peripheral devices (like mice, keyboards, cameras, etc) at all. And, almost no Android smartphones and tablets are capable of hosting USB peripheral devices and being charged at the same time. For example, I tested the Nexus 4 (with factory software) and it is not able to host USB peripheral devices regardless of what cable you use. When this cable is used to connect a Nexus 4, a phone charger, and a USB mouse, this cable will allow the Nexus 4 to charge, but the Nexus 4 will never be able to host the mouse. I have also tested this cable with an LG Optimus Exceed 2 (Android smartphone). The outcome is the same as it is with the Nexus 4. I have also tested this cable with a Dragon Touch M7 (Android tablet). The M7 is able to host USB peripherals, but the M7 does not charge when this cable is connected to both the M7, a USB peripheral, and a charger. The power source seems to only power the USB peripheral. I recommend you do more reading on this topic with regard to your specific application. It's possible that custom software exists that would allow you to use this cable to both charge your device and power a USB peripheral at the same time.

**Q: Will this cable charge the OTG device (my Nexus 7) via the male USB end WHILE I'm using the Nexus 7 via the female USB end (a camera hook-up and app)?**
A: If you use the micro USB to power the Nexus 7, the USB Male to your power source (such as a computer or USB outlet) and plug your camera in via the female USB, it will charge your Nexus 7. I am currently using this configuration with Timur's ROM and it charges my Nexus 7 in my car while using a USB DAC to provide audio signal to my amplifiers.

A: Yes.  The connected power will supply both the phone and the dac.

A: Try a different hub. I use this in the car with a 4 port hub, a wireless keyboard/air mouse, and it charges.
