I absolutely love the Dr. Grip series of writing implements. I have carpal tunnel, arthritis and neuropathy that affects both hands severely. Writing, sketching, etc. can be a bit difficult at times. I've used the Dr. Grip pens for a good many years and have always found them comfortable to use. I was having all sorts of trouble with hanging on to pencils and the regular type of mechanical pencils. It finally occurred to me to look to see if Dr. Grip made mechanical pencils. Not too much luck at first. Resorted to using Ticonderoga My First pencils. Yeah, the kind you used in first grade. The thicker build made it some what easier to hold on to, but didn't really help with grip fatigue. Finally found a Dr. Grip, one that was made and sold in Japan. Ordered one of them and frankly was very disappointed with it. The lead would not advance no matter how long I shook it. And it wasn't as comfortable to hold like the pens were. So back to the Ticonderogas. That was a little over two years ago. Then in March 2026 I found another version of the Pilot Mechanical Pencil Dr. Grip and it looked exactly like the pens I was used to. Ordered one and it has made a big difference. I can easily grip and hang on to it and draw for longer lengths of time in comfort. A just a gentle little shake advances the lead! I'm back to being able to draw my designs and such on my big 17" x 22" graph paper pad. The only thing I have to worry about now is keeping my Chihuahua, Makenna Rose, from trying to chew on both my new mechanical pencil and my drawing pad! If you are looking for a comfortable to grip pens and mechanical pencils give the Pilot Dr. Grip series a go. I've found them reliable and worth the price and they come in some pretty colors also. One thing, if you erase a lot buy some good erasers and save having to use the small one on the mechanical pencil. Less frustrating in the long run

This pencil has been awesome for journaling. I tend to push pretty hard when I write, so the 0.9mm is a must for me. I don't use the attached eraser since it is so small. I also like that you can get the graphite to come out of the tip just by "flicking" the pencil up and down. It can be a bit annoying until you get used to it. Overall, this pencil is well worth the price.

This is a very well designed product. It has excellent balance and a nice grip to prevent fatigue. It uses 0.9 mm lead which is thick enough that you do not have to press very hard. The only negative is the eraser is super small. Otherwise, it is well made and well designed, and I expect it will last a long time.

This review assumes you’re familiar with the Dr Grip products and their unique features. This is a very good mechanical pencil with the very desirable shake to advance lead feature. It is not as “plush” feeling in the hand as other Dr Grip pencils. The cushion grip feels less substantial and more firm than I’m used to with a Dr Grip product. This is however the only 0.9mm Dr Grip pencil I can find at this time and it performs as a 0.9 lead pencil should. Cons: Shorter and less heft in hand for a Dr Grip product. Typical Dr Grip eraser could be better. Pros: shake to advance lead feature is key, reliable performance from a 0.9mm mechanical pencil.

This is a quality pencil. Is has what I would describe as a shake weight inside that you can use to advance the lead instead of constantly having to click it. The grip is very comfortable. Normally this device is not available in the united states regularly, so it will come in a package with a lot of Japanese writing on it. Nothing on the package would be anything that I would think that you would actually need to read.

子供用に購入。筆圧が強いので0.5ではなく0.9でいつも買っています。 0.9だと本体が細めのものが多いのですが、グリップがあり本体が太めなので、子供曰く今まで買った中では一番使いやすいようです。
