Takagi T-K4-OS-NG Tankless Water Heater, Natural Gas, Outdoor

Installed this unit as part of a full renovation in March of 2019. Installation was done by a licensed plumber since the city required as much to get a gas meter. Unit worked great until yesterday when it just stopped turning on. I went to the Takagi website, pulled their troubleshooting manual and went through the steps. It seemed the control board was blown.Foolishly, I made an appointment with one of the local service technicians listed on the Takagi website, thinking they would be able to replace the part. The technician that came out futzed around for about 30 minutes before telling me, "yep, control board is gone", charging me $75, and then leaving. Don't you guys have parts or can order the part? "Nope, you'll have to call Takagi."I was more than unhappy to say the least. I called up Takagi, got a rep on the line in about 30 seconds and he walked me through some additional diagnostics the plumber that just left had neglected. After about ten minutes and a lot of probing with a volt meter he said he was going to overnight me a new control board and fans (just in case). While he was setting up my order it turned out they did not have the boards in stock. He gave me a replacement code and told me to go to any local distributor and they'd just give me a whole new unit.2 hours later I have hot water again. Takagi support is best I've ever experienced with a major appliance. My local plumbers certified to service their goods, not so great.As others have said, the unit does what it's supposed to. This one was good for two simultaneous showers or running a shower and the clothes washer or dishwasher. The cost savings in gas will pay for itself in about 4 years and the never-run-out hot water can't be beat.

Best ever quietest and safest water heater. My yearly heating bill has gone down to 20%, comparing to the one with indoors 40G unit. I was skeptical initially if it would feed two heavily used bathrooms and an active kitchen, and it has continued to surprise me. No issues so far and it is truely a Japanese miracle of the twentyfirst century. Stays outside and gets you lots of space within to play with.

Perfect! This unit never runs cold and I can finally take as long a shower as I’d like. We had 2 conventional water heaters in a large older home and this replaced a 50 gallon outdoor heater. We had a professional plumber install it for us and buying it on amazon saves us a fortune. Plumbers will charge DOUBLE the cost of the unit PLUS labor. We’ve done the same thing with2 of our 3 AC units now.... buy off Amazon and pay a straight forward install fee. 1/2 the cost!!

It has worked very well since I got it. Got the bypass valves to backwash it. My well has lots of Iron in it so I just put on an Oxone system to help with that. It does make some noise when the fan comes on but not very noticeable. I have not hooked up the remote control but It is not necessary. It is a lot smaller than the (Bosh) one it replaced, which was terrible.

I have had this up and running for a week and its working perfectly for my 4 bathroom house. The hot water never runs out!. So far, this unit can keep up with 3 showers running at the same time. This required electricity, gas, and water re-routing to feed it so it was more involved than swapping for another tank heater. Best to have a pro install it.

This tankless heater came recommended to me by three other contractors I know.They did not dissappoint me. the unit ,once installed is flawless and workd perfectly.I have nothing bad to say of this unit at all !!I will say that it would probably be best if this unit is installed by a professional.First it doesn't void your warranty and second it is not just a plug and play item.Once installed you will love it.

This is my third Takagi tankless water heater. The first two have been in use for several years without a problem. One is an indoor unit. The other is in a garage. Never had a problem with either one, so it was a no-brainer to order another one for a client.
