Meh.
Nothing special, but it's good enough. I was hoping it would scare my dog when she got into something, but it seems to have no effect. :pIt's been a while since I turned it on, but I recall it being a little inconsistent about going off when I thought it should, hence why I stopped using it and I knocked off a few stars.

Its loud, its sensitive, its a problem
I got this and found that while it works, it eats a battery per alarm.. I don't see how I can use this if it eats a 9 volt battery if it goes off.. so into the scrap pile it goes. I wanted to replace the switch so I could use it to protect a backpack. Darn it will keep looking for a solution.

Loud, Sensitive, but Feel a Little Cheap
I now how about 5 of these. I use them inside a couple of safes, on the metal frames of my sliding glass doors, and on my home entertainment center. Even a very small bump sets them off, and the decibel level seems adequate to at least incite a little panic from anyone trying to steal your things. You get 10-15 seconds after setting it to shut and lock a door on a safe, so that's nice. The plastic build feels a little flimsy, but the built-in magnet makes it nice for quick mounting and gives you the option to easily move them around. Honestly, I use some little round Velcro discs to secure them on both metallic and non-metallic surfaces because the magnet isn't terribly strong. It's not full home alarm system, but I feel more comfortable leaving my house knowing that if someone tries anything funny there is at least a loud deterrent to the bad guy to stick around for long. For the price they are a good buy as a basic audible theft deterrent.

I won!
I purchased two of these to try and fortify the battlefront in my war against my canine couch-invader. I had tried a variety of tactics, but he would outsmart me every time. I finally resorted to placing thick sheets of plywood on each one, and would have to slide the plywood under the couch whenever I'd want to sit down. Yeah, really. For the sake of aesthetics, I kept my fingers crossed that these little alarms would do the trick, and hooray! They worked : ) The down-side is my dog won't come near me when I'm sitting on either couch now, haha! For the price you pay, don't expect high-end alarms; these are cheap little deals. However, they function as advertised, loud and clear. I discovered that if I placed an even slightly used 9v battery in it, it would wear out quickly, (it took my dear doggie a several attempts before he figured out that his davenport-days were over). I purchased brand-new batteries, and they've lasted now for a few weeks, and at least 9 activations on one of them.As others have said, it doesn't take much to set them off, which is why they're so effective. I accidentally set mine off a couple of times... be sure that you have it in place BEFORE you turn it on, then tip-toe away quickly. Don't. even. breathe. Kidding, of course, but they are very sensitive. And, did I mention LOUD?I still keep them on my couches for now, but I don't have to activate them anymore; just their presence acts as a deterrent at this point. In the near future, I'm going to set them up to keep him out of my very large and open compost bin (his personal smörgåsbord), and a couple of other areas that I'd prefer he doesn't pillage and plunder. (Not being waterproof, I'll simply place them in a zip-loc baggie). For the price and the results, these little vibrating alarms have been an excellent investment. I wish I would have found them a long time ago, the battle would have been over before it started. : )

Absolute JUNK! When these two Alarms finally arrived I was even more disappointed. I received two identical boxes but inside were different vintages of this unit and Neither of them operated as advertised. Total Junk! For the $15 cost I am not even going to the trouble of requesting a refund. I believe that this supplier will give Amazon a bad name.

It's cheap, annoyingly loud, sensitive, and no problem
I bought this just to play with the vibration detector. Then I decided to annoy a cat that was scratching where it shouldn't. I set it off about 20 times while testing it. Once it settles in, the slightest jolt will set it off. It reminds me of the old game 'Operation' - see how far you can move it without triggering it.The siren is not only loud, but an ascending sine wave that hurts the ears in less than a second. It shuts off after about 20 seconds, but believe me, you can't stand it that long.Back to the cat story: I rigged it up with thread to scare the cat when it went near that spot. Trouble is, I go there too. After accidentally tripping it about 6 times, I got mad and kicked the hell out of it. It flew across the room, bounced off the dresser, battery and battery cover flying off. Still works fine with the same battery. It's not waterproof. It might be OK outside in a ziploc bag. I'm thinking of testing it on the resident deer population. No question, if you need something to attach to a door or window (or several), this is a cheap solution. A string or anything to knock it over or make it wobble is all you need.It 'could' work as a personal alarm, but I don't recommend it. After you turn it on, it takes 15 seconds before it's armed. That's a long time if someone is attacking you. On the other hand, if you want to let some stranger knocking at the door know just how you feel about him, that 15 seconds while he's introducing himself might be perfect timing.

Horrible Item And Customer Service.
All three alarms smoked as soon as battery was installed. There ARE NO POLARITY INDICATORS for battery placement. Of course the seller said they never had this issue so dont expect refund ///////// Cheap Charlie built this for sure /////////
