I started using Dettol soap back in the days when the cost was half and the cake was double, so I'm comparing to the "original" original here. There was a time when I wouldn't use any other soap to shower with. In summer, it kept me clean and always fresh, and in winter, with sweating under multiple layers, when I came in from working in the snow, it just left me feeling truly clean. But when I moved over the years, I couldn't find it any more. When I saw this on Amazon, I was hesitant. Never expected it to have the same fragrance, which is one of it's best attributes, or I expected some kind of "change" in the ingredients. But, because of the antibacterial qualities, I took a chance and am pleasantly surprised. The fragrance is so close to what I remember. It's "clean", not fruity or flowery. Just "clean". I don't want anything body cleanser that leaves scents that make me smell like a "Welcome Basket" of assorted (artificial) fruits or a holiday bunch of "variety cut flowers" and Dettol comes through like a champion! "Clean", just clean. And the fragrance is lighter than I recall, but doesn't linger at all. Use it with a wash-cloth/flannel and there's another test that Dettol passes brilliantly. It lathers "luxuriously", and the lather lasts. But, the final point is that it rinses completely! No soap residue on the wash-cloth/flannel and it doesn't leave soap on the shower curtain. So you KNOW you're clean with no residue on your skin. And for all of this, it doesn't dry your skin. In fact, if you're in a rush, you can use it from head to toe. I don't usually "gush" about a product this much, but as I say, I remember it from many years ago, liked it then and can still say I'm very glad I took this risk and bought it again. The only reason I couldn't give it a full 5-star is because, sadly, Dettol's gone the way of just about every other soap: less product. But no matter, it surely is worth having. Clean. Fresh. Rinses thoroughly. Doesn't irritate. No residual scent. Just what a soap should be and do.

This soap leaves you squesky clean. The only caveat is that It smells like a 1989 NYC public school hallway after it was freshly mopped. I don't care about the smell, so I'll be purchasing more.

I love this soap it reminds me to hush. This soap is so gentle on the skin. The original is not harsh on the skin. There is also the cool one it’s so soft I enjoy buying that one also
