DOESNT WORK! Just stutters.
The media could not be loaded. Looks great for small stuff like pens and such (what I WAS going to use it for...) but it won't spin. Its like the power supply is putting out an AC voltage to a DC motor. It just sits there and stutters. Not sure if its the motor, the power supply, or both. Im returning it and hopefully ill have better luck with a different brand/seller...

Not a commercial product - Only buy as a novelty. Don't plan on actually making anything with it.
I'm giving this 3 stars even though I sent it back as completely useless to me because it is a pretty neat little hack together. Someone very clever spent some time making an almost usable lathe out of not-lathe parts. First off, its much smaller than it looks. They call it a mini lathe, but a micro lathe would be more accurate. You cant turn anything significant with it. Small bore stuff only, and better if its not too long either. I wanted to turn something 6 inches by 2 inches, which technically would fit in this machine but it was utterly useless at that size. The motor stalls with the slightest pressure on a "big" workpiece like that. Really all this is good for is pens if you are making pens, that's about it. Then the next issue is precision - it doesn't have any. There is so much slop in the tail stock, it literally swings +/- 20 degrees out of true and as much as half an inch offset from center line. You can absolutely forget about turning anything that needs to be dimensioned. You cant achieve better than +/- 1/2 inch on this thing. Using the saw and sander attachments will cause you to plane at a wonky angle, not perpendicular to the axis of rotation. All in all, nice try - clever design for a hack together - but not a commercial product to be sold for any kind of purpose. Should be on Etsy, not Amazon.
