Antique Cast Iron Well Pitcher Pump with Leather Kit, Max. 25ft Lift, Red

Bought this last year and got it going in case power went out and what do you know we lost power for week on hurricane Helen. Was thankful we had it.

I bought this to sit on top of a whiskey barrel that covers my well pump. It is a heavy, solid cast item painted the perfect red. I get a lot of compliments. I did not ever intend to use it as a pump, so I cannot comment on its mechanical capabilities.

We live off the grid in a dry cabin. We use a 55 gal barrel (filled with water) and attached this pump. We did the same in the greenhouse. They work excellent for us. Easy to install, comes completely assembled, extremely excellent quality, I’ve had the 1 st one we bought over 15 years. Highly recommended.

The pump works well but did not come with a leather kit as stated.

I wanted a water feature for my backyard. I had a whiskey barrel and inspiration from YouTube so I got up work and the pump was part of my plan. I did not use it as a working pump. I took out the inside and ran my tubing through it. This is my finished product. And I’m very happy with it.

Worked three to four times over a couple of weeks then would not prime and therefore had no suction to pump. Looks ok but does not work. I tried to replace the leather cup, but the new cup would not fit properly and would not fit back into the pump housing. The piece that the leather cup fits on looked cheap and out of round. The wear on the old leather cup was uneven. If you want a pump that pumps water, do not buy this!

We purchased this back in Feb '22 and easy to install, looks great and worked until it didn't. Lasted until a week before Hurricane Ian. I have 3 wells on the property and this is the only hand pump well I had and I was feeling good if we lost power that I'd at least have water. I tested it a week before the hurricane and all was ok. Then Ian hits, we lose power for 7 days and the pump didn't work. Lost all suction. So finally got around to looking at it today and the seals are shot. Which was why we couldn't get suction when we needed it. I'm in the process of seeing if I can get replacement parts and if not - I'll be buying a new hand pump. Hopefully I can get the gaskets replaced but it's just disappointing that the device didn't hold up and it wasn't over used. Maybe I should have used it more.

Funziona bene e anche esteticamente non è male. Peccato che all'inizio l'acqua mi usciva grigia per via del materiale con cui è stata costruita e dopo pochi mesi ha rilasciato quel "grigiume" anche nelle giunzioni dei pezzi. Vedremo come passerà l'inverno e se dovrò rivedere la mia recensione.

Works well, solid build, i just wish it would have come with the pipe and adapter, but it was easy to find at my local hardware store
