be careful not to mar the actual fuel ...
I cut the filter off of mine; it is RIVETED on, so you would need to dremal it off. careful not to mar the actual fuel pump!! because thats the part you want! I am actually using a duel fuel filter system which I DO NOT have pictures of, as it is not related to the quality of this AMAZING fuel pump. I was lucky.. mine was made in the USA.. and i bought it during the summer of 2016.Installed this on my suzuki samurai as I did my 1.6L swap! Because the 1.3L used a mechanical, and I needed something to fuel my car! I heard these are the ones that people use on old school muscle car v8's so I was like "Carter? why the hell not, I have had 2 Chinese made autozone/oreilly brands ones break on me already.... so I have nothing to lose" I bought this thing rather recently as you can see from my purchase date.. and mine says Made in the USA... not sure how everyone is getting a chinese one... so far this thing has lasted MUCH longer compared to Oreilly's/autozone chinese brand... and this thing is STILL running strong.Keep in mind this thing is LOUD but it is no doubt the best fuel pump I have ever used.. and I have been having neighmares with the pumps failing, but still sounding and acting like they work... the biggest issue with a failing fuel pump is that sometimes they still act like they work even when they are not flowing..... so it takes me forever to diagnosis and see for sure it is the fuel pump as sometimes it taeks 15 minutes for a fuel pump to stair failing AFTER they start failing.. but so far this pump has lasted atleast 2x longer compared to all of my other fuel pumps I have used, and it is STILL working even today!

For 2.5 to 5 pound Weber carbs this is the one.
This is the pump you need for a small Weber Carburetor installation. The down side if that if you leave the power on for an hour this pump will overheat and seize after boiling the fuel back to the tank leaving no cooling that prevents melt down. Not the fault of the pump.Appliance motors now are required to include a thermal switch that will limit temperature one time or repeatable. Clothes dryers are almost always one time after 1975. The thought comes to me that an appropriate sized bar fuse might be included in strap down for this pump.Fuses and circuit breakers depend on heat to either melt a temperature sensitive element or move a bar like a mouse trap that interrupts the circuit. This might prevent the loss of the pump in the presence of a mechanic that is unaware of the condition.Normally this would not happen but it can and will if you don't pay attention to what you are doing or not doing. If you melt down the pump it will likely also melt down the 15 or so amp fuse when the motor locks up.(Pump super hot and no longer humming)Other kinds of electric pumps just chatter away forever but also pulses are unacceptable for the little weber. If you, for instance were working on a directional signal problem and took too long (switch needs to be on), you should remove the negative lug connector to stop the pump while you are working to prevent the loss of the pump. If you cannot be careful then buy a spare and put it into the circuit with the wires disconnected. This pump primes quickly as it is a continuous flow pump that DOES NOT PULSE. which is a requirement for successful Weber installations.

incredible value
This pump is pretty incredible. I bought it when it was still in the $60 range, but I don't feel cheated with it now costing half as much. I bought mine as a lift pump on a G30 diesel van. When, 8 months later, the mechanical pump died, I just bypassed the mechanical pump and this little baby kept on pumping reliably despite the original mechanical having a base psi under half what the mechanical was putting out. I've since driven the van at everywhere from below sea level in 110F heat to 7500 feet in high winds at -10F without a problem with the pump. This pump has been reliable and has either assisted (when it was just for lift) or resulted in improved cold weather, hot weather, and uphill starts. Temperature does not appear to impact its flow rate in a (noticable) way, and it does a good job of repressurizing the fuel line.I wish Carter would make this pump in several variants, however. I would like a higher PSI variant, personally - same constant psi, but at somewhere between 8 and 15 psi. This still gets the full monte, though, simply because it performs so adequately.Well worth the money. I just picked up a second one as a toolbox spare, Just In Case.

Review Carter elec fuel pump
I bought this fuel pump for my M37 military truck, it had a mechanical pump which also produced vacuum for the wipers. I wanted some better and decided to go with the electric pump and electric wipers. The pump was easy to put on, but have not used it since I had other issues with the fuel system. Tank was rusted bad, no sending unit, pick up was bent. so waiting on those repairs, then I can test it. Marty

Disappointing.
I installed the pump on my 1979 Land Cruiser. I decided to replace the Mexican made Airtex (which was working fine) withthe USA made Carter. The Carter is quieter but after 59 days it started to over heat and stopped operating until it cooled down. The pump is getting plenty of fuel so there must be an issue with the winding that is causing the over heating. I contacted Carter and they said I must have received a defective pump. I'm not sure how to makea warranty claim with Carter and it's past the 30 day Amazon return deadline.

A vintage VW must have!
I use these on vintage VWs replacing the old prone-to-vapor-lock mechanical fuel pumps that VW installed factory. I live in a warm climate and these have never failed. I bought two, one for using, the other to keep in the vehicle for a field repair in the event it should fail.... but no problems, been running the one for several years!
