Okay. I really like these collars! I don't think I've ever bothered to leave a review on anything before, but I feel like the collar may have already saved our dog's life. We have a black lab puppy that is super fast and loves to run. He is 8 months old and 80 lbs. already. We lost some valuable leash training time with the frigid cold temps of a Maine winter. By spring, he was dragging me on a leash, and I was afraid that he would hurt our kids, pulling so hard. I thought I had him trained to stay home and near me with treats, but once I let him out and he ran as fast as he could to the road. I knew we had to do something. Honestly, I didn't think theses collars would work, but we decided to give them a try. The first time I put the charged collar on him, I put him on a leash, and gave him treats for coming to the beep. He did fine with that, but when we got outside, he immediately started dragging me across the lawn, crushing the hand that the leash was wrapped around. I had the collar on the lowest shock setting, and kept turning it up one at a time, and then 10 at a time, since I was being dragged! As I mentioned, he is 80 lbs., but a big baby, so I didn't think he'd need much. He didn't even notice the shock until I got up 65, and I figured out that 75 consistently got his attention. It didn't seem to hurt him or freak him out, but just made him look at me, and he stopped dragging me! That was awesome! So, I just spent about 15 minutes a day working with the collar on him. I had my 9 year old walk him on the leash, and he was very polite, and figured out very fast that he was supposed to match his pace to hers. Then I tried him off leash, with treats for coming to beeps. We just walked the boundaries of our property, and when he got too close to the road, he got a touch of shock, and he'd run right to me. After a couple of days of only having to do that once or twice, he started to get the idea. I found that he only needed a reminder on vibrate at about 40, and I have never needed to shock him since then. As soon as he feels the vibration, he knows he is not supposed to be where he is, and he runs to me... Also stopped him from jumping up on my daughter when she runs outside, after one correction. He was able to enjoy running through the stream and wading pool, and so far, it still works fine. I know some people think these collars are painful or cruel, but I kept checking his neck from the collar, and only saw his skin a little pink one time, and that could have been from him scratching. Even if that little irritation was from the collar, it most likely saved his life, so well worth it. He looks at me constantly when we are out now to see if it is okay for him to be where he is, and if I beep the collar or call him, he runs right to me. The collar has given him the freedom to run all over our property, and he loves to run! When I get the collar out, he runs over to have me put it on him. I haven't had the collars for a month yet, so not sure how long they will last, but so far, it has been worth it for us!

Oh by the way, I was not paid for this review. I don’t usually write reviews - this one took me over 2 years to write. I bought this collar in June 2015 when my dog was 6 months old. A very hyper Yellow Lab. Even for a lab he (Duncan) is very energetic. We live in the country so he is hardly on a leash but this collar works flawlessly. I don’t know it’s full range, I have never tested that but I know it works up to 700 feet. It has three modes beep, vibrate, and shock. It actually has a light mode also but that doesn’t seem useful to me. The vibrate and shock mode are adjustable to 100. I keep vibrate on 100 and shock on 3. These settings work great for Duncan. Shock set on 3 is about the same as putting a 9 volt battery on your tongue. I did need to install the longer probes to penetrate his fur and you do need to keep it snug on their neck. Duncan responds well to the beep if he isn’t distracted by scents or sounds. If he doesn’t respond to beep then I use vibrate. That works 90% of the time on him. He knows what the next step is. The shock always gets his attention but I only use it if I have to. I feel guilty using shock on him but I need a way to keep him safe. The highest I ever turned it up to was 20 when he was chasing a squirrel towards the road. The unit comes with two collars. I never needed to use the second one. I don’t know if it is waterproof but I know it is water resistant. The only problem I have ever had is that the charging holes must be worn as I have to giggle it around to get it to charge but that’s OK. I can always buy a new one and it was well worth the money to keep Duncan safe for these past 3 years. Even though I have confidence in this collar I NEVER leave it on Duncan when I am not with him. I’m too worried that it will trigger by itself and hurt him. This collar is very helpful when he is in the house as well. He loves to smother the grandchildren with kisses and this is great at keeping him a little calmer. I highly recommend this collar and have convinced a few friends to buy it as well.

This is lengthy, but it's primarily factual and will give you the lowdown on these collars. I researched A LOT of shock collars before purchasing these. If you have questions about something I didn't mention here, feel free to ask me and I'll help you out the best I can. So far, and despite all the horror story reviews on here, my collars and remote have worked out well and were well worth the price paid. I use them on two australian blue heelers (One is 4 months old and 10 pounds, the other is 1 year old and 40 pounds.) Each collar operates between 4 settings: Light ---> The little green light will flash repeatedly when activated. Beep ---> A loud and annoying beep will sound over and over for as long as you hold down the beep button. Vibrate ---> There are 100 levels of vibration to choose from. Shock ---> There are also 100 levels of shock to choose from. An 9 year old boy bravely volunteered to test a few of the shock levels. He described evels 1-6 as non-painful. Levels 7-12 gave him a a little bit more of a "bite." And he said level 13 zapped him pretty good... The beep and vibration settings are very effective on my youngest pup. I very rarely have to shock her, and when I do, it only needs to be set at level 1 [out of 100]. My older pup is a bit more stubborn and strong-willed, therefore the beep and vibration don't really work well for him if he's bound and determined to be mischievous. I've had to shock him on level 16 or 17 in order to keep him from running into the road or towards a person. Normally levels 10-12 are enough to grab his attention and remind him that he is not the alpha when it comes to his sometimes dumb decisions. I will say "Here" when I want him to come. If he does not come after the first command, I'll give him a shock on level 5 or 6 and progressively raise the level while first giving the command "Here" until he begins moving in my direction. If he stops moving in my direction, I will lower it back down to 5 or 6 and then administer a consistent shock until he begins moving in my direction again. This has proven to be highly effective, as he comes nearly every time I say "Here." An occasional deer can influence him to ignore my commands, at which times I will shock him until he remembers he must obey. It is important to only give the command once before shocking/beeping/vibrating them, because if you give the command six times before a shock, they will eventually realize that they can ignore your command five times before they actually have to listen and obey. So remember, one command: "Here." If they ignore you, low level shock(or beep or vibrate). It will not take long for them to realize there are consequences for disobeying. Please, for the love of God, DO NOT ELECTROCUTE YOUR PUP ON LEVEL 100. This is an exceptional training tool, and it requires a high level of responsibility and discipline from the person controlling the remote. As I mentioned earlier, beep and vibrate work well with some pups. With the youngin, I start by giving a command, then beeping her if she doesn't respond. Then another command, then a vibrate (on level 100) if she doesn't respond. Usually by this time, she's either headed in my direction, or she's already at my feet. The range is 300 meters I think... I've zapped my oldest pup from all the way across the field. It was a loooong ways (out of earshot), but it still zapped him good and he bolted straight back towards the house. As far as the waterproof-ness of the collars, I wasn't immediately confident that the design would be sufficient towards keeping water out.... But the other day my little pup dove straight into the creek (which was about 40 degrees at the time...lol) and then she came bounding back out of there, collar still working. It has not given me any problems since that little swim adventure, but come summertime, I can edit this review and give you a better idea of the durability under the water. But so far, the collar on my youngin has survived one submersion in the creek and countless roll-arounds in the snow and mud puddles. The one thing that I ABSOLUTELY HATE about this whole deal is the remote. Don't get me wrong, I can easily switch back and forth between collar 1 and collar 2 with the buttons it has, but it's just not designed intelligently. There should be a switch, like an actual physical, up-and-down switch on the side, top, or front of the remote to switch between collar one and two. Otherwise, you have no idea which collar you are set on unless you look at the screen, and in a fast paced, think-quick scenario when a dog is bolting toward the road or chasing after the chubby mailman, you don't always have the convenience and luxury of taking the time to look at the screen, clicking on the (1&2) button, making sure it's on shock mode, and then administering the shock in time before your pup's standing in the roadway or nibblin' on the mailman's rear end. It'd be 100 times better to have a switch, so you could always know (just by feeling the position of the switch with your finger) that when the switch is up, it's on collar one, and visa versa for collar two. A similar arguement can be made for the "shock" feature. I would like a separate button from the other three settings (Light, Beep, Vibrate) so in case of a similar emergency as I just described, you won't have to look at the screen to be able to know whether your shocking the pup or perhaps just turning on the blinky light (which works pretty good when you lose your dog in the dead of night.) The way it is now, you have cycle through all four settings using one button. MY BIGGEST COMPLAINT ABOUT THE REMOTE: THERE IS NO WAY TO LOCK THE DARN BUTTONS. IN OTHER WORDS, IF YOU PUT THE REMOTE IN YOUR POCKET, OR CLIP IT ON YOUR BELT, AND THEN YOU ACCIDENTALLY LEAN UP AGAINST SOMETHING AND THE **SHOCK*** BUTTON GETS PRESSED, YOU WILL BE SHOCKING THE HECK OUT OF YOUR DOG UNTIL THE BUTTON IS UNPRESSED. I have done it once, and it made me pretty mad cause my older dog took a pretty good zap, which caused him to yip a little, and it was all because I was carrying a box into my house and the corner of the box accidentally pushed the shock button. It's just not practical to create a shock collar remote and not put a lock feature on it to prevent such accidents. Petrainer made a wonderful product....but I just wanna look at the guy who designed the remote and ask him what in the world was he thinking. All in all, I give this set 90 points out of 100.

Ok we have a nice dog we rescued from a rescue group who in turn had rescued him literally within an hour of being "put down" by the animal shelter.... he is a little over one year in age.....definitely abused but also incredibly stubborn always wanting to chase things and leaving the safe boundaries (he has acres to run on but always wants to head to the highway which is super dangerous)..... so we decided to give this a try. King does know commands....so this behavior is nothing to do with lack on intelligence...but his hunting instinct is strong which is a dangerous thing when you live where coyotes, bobcats, panthers, and other natural predators rule the woodlands....and the cars/trucks rule the highway... He chases anything from animals to huge trucks lunging in front of the vehicles.. This is a SERIOUS Danger to not only him, but to others.....and must be stopped. He is a sweet dog......well behaved except when outside here at our ranch where he goes from King to King Krazy. We are his last hope for a home so we are willing to resort to more extreme measure to help him "learn" what is acceptable and what is not...knowing that the alternative would be likely his death by either the animals, vehicles, or worse. 1st Day our dog King (who is more stubborn than a Angus Bull playing tug of war with a mouse) responded to the audio tones and at times the vibration modes.... no shock level was needed. We were happy with the results but knew that a scenerio would arise to where King would say "I'm Doing it anyways" and off to the races...it was just a question of when and NOT if. 2nd Day King decided it was time to ignore all the warnings and chased the damn UPS truck......ignored the tones...ignored the vibrations... I hated to do it but I was forced to use the shock setting.... it was clear that he did NOT like the sensation and immediately started racing back to within his boundaries.... It was clear that he "made the connection" that he had better stop what he was doing... Later the same day a family member was leaving and "Once again" King Krazy" emerged and the Chase was On.... once again he ignored the repeated warning tones...I used the vibration setting and he paused...but decided the Chase was STILL on and started to move after the vehicle which had stopped (he gets in front of a moving vehicle which is stupid and dangerous....of course no one wants to hurt him so we usually stop the vehicle when it is us). I had no choice but to use the shock setting again.....he instantly got the message, broke off his pursuit, and flew like the wind back to the house & within his boundaries. We are confident that with the small breaktrhoughs made so far that the Petrainer device will result in King learning once and for all.....which as we all know is much better than finding him mauled by a bobcat or something becuase he cornered it. Advice: Buy this version even if you have one dog.....I did because I figured if one of the collar devices were to fail that we would have a compatible backup...it also comes with an extra collar etc...... This is a decent product and I would definitelt reccomend to anyone who needs and most especially if you have your very own "King Krazy" If you've found my review to be helpful, please give me a thumbs up because it helps me too. :) UPDATE December 10: King no longer chases vehicles... yeah I never thought I'd live to see the day but when a vehicle comes down the driveway he hangs back at or near the stairway barking at them (barking is not an issue). He also will not follow me out of his boundaries when I walk or drive out of the area we have trained him to consider HIS territory (he has over an acre+ of land to run in near the house...he does not enter the pasture where predators such as Gators live nor down the driveway toward unknown and known dangers such as cars,coyotes, panthers,bobcats,etc). So this Petrainer product has allowed us to Declare Victory!!!

These, by far, are the poorest quality training collars I have ever seen. We bought these because our original set of collars, made by Sport Dog, were at the end of their life after five years of use. Not wanting to spend $200+ on a new set of Sport Dog at the time, we opted for these, hoping that they would do the job. After six months of use we finally had enough and ordered a set of Sport Dog collars, which we should have done in the first place. First off, these are very cheaply made. The "sticker" so to speak that contains the on/off button on both of the collars is peeling off and have been since almost new. Our dogs are not tough on these - they are not worn every day and they never any element; rain, water, mud, etc. After maybe two or three months of use, the collars would no longer hold a charge, and/or stay on. After they were on the charger long enough to gain a full charge, we would turn them on and put them on the dogs. After an hour or so of use we would attempt to buzz the dogs and nothing would happen. I would use the remote to switch it over to the audible tone, only to find out that it had shut itself off. When I tried to turn them back on I would firmly push the power button six or seven times before it finally beeped and powered up. However, this cycle would repeat itself many times. My next issue with this product is the difficulty of using the remote for two dog collars. There is no easy switch from one dog to the next - unlike other collar remotes where you have separate buttons for each dog - this one forces you to use two buttons to switch between dogs and correct their actions. This makes it quite difficult to control two dogs with this remote. On top of that, the buttons are so simple to press that if you have this in your pocket it constantly ends up switching what setting it is on. My final issue is the way it charges. You are only given one charger that allows you to charge the remote and one collar at a time. This is ridiculous for a product that has three pieces that need charging. I will never recommend this product and I will never buy from this company again. We have been using our new Sport Dog collars with zero issues for the past few months, and judging by the first set we had, I expect to have many years of problem free use from them.

I've been using this petrainer for a few weeks now after being overly aggravated with the battery powered beeping bark control collar. So, I decided to try something new... and found this one that was chargeable. So far, so good. I am very impressed with the ability to set the volume of the beep from a 0 volume to 100. I also like the like shock. I would never buy a shock color for my dogs, but the one on this collar can also be set from 0 to 100. It is more like a muscle stimulator. It does feel weird at 100... but, barely harmless at 20 for my 30 to 40lb dogs. I do have one suggestion that I would really like to see in future collars. My dogs usually bark all together and all at once. I would love a feature button that include both to go off simultaneously. It's hard to get to each quickly enough to alert them from not barking. Other then that... it would make this collar one of the best I've used. Okay, it's been about a month now with the Petrainer PET998DBB2 AND my opinion had completely changed about this bark collar. THE REASON I'M CHANGING FROM 5 STARS TO 3 STARS is because of a few issues with the collar set that are driving me crazy... but, could be fixed and become A SUPER GREAT BARK/ TRAINING COLLAR. ISSUE #1) THE charger you supply only holds one charger. How hard would it of been to have an extra output for both collars and handheld device to all be charged at the same time? Issue #2) users need to know where their battery life stands? I never know if the hand held or collars need to be charged. If you happen to upgrade, I suggest, putting a life support on the collars and a battery level on the hand held. Issue #3) my dogs bark mostly at the same time. I really think it would be beneficial to have a (choice 3) on the handhelds that alerted both collars at the same time. Please let me know if you are offering a new version...as this one dies everyday... even after charged 1 at a time over the night. You never really said in the directions about how long a proper charge for the collar/ handheld should be and how long the charge should last. And, that's my fault for being new to this and not knowing the correct questions to ask. Any feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I bought these trainers for my two Border Collies. They are basically good dog on lead but we were having some problems with off lead behavior... like selective deafness. These collars are the best I have used in all the years I have owned dogs. The three settings, beep, vibrate and shock allow you to customize at a touch of a button the amount of force you need to use. Firstly I always test any shock on myself before subjecting my dogs to it. The range is from 1 to 100. On the 10 feels like when you touch a nine volt battery to your tongue. Which for my dogs is plenty to get the immediate attention to get them back to me and away from immediate danger. Surprising the vibrate mode is quite alarming to my dogs and will stop them in their tracks from chasing wild animals or strays in our yard. The beep tone is the mode I use most often to stop annoying barking or to get them to backup from the front door when a stranger is knocking. Not enough to send them out of the room but enough for me to assert control when they are too busy barking and I don't want to answer the door shouting. ( Not classy as a first impression to a new neighbor to be screaming at the dogs when you open the door.) I rarely use any thing more that the beep because the Border Collie is a very sensitive dog and it is enough to get their attention. Both of my dogs are just over a year old and on the whole quite obedient dogs. This is just right to keep them in line and to make the neighbors happy. Both dogs have gotten the collars thoroughly wet and muddy (puppies again) and it has not effected the performance of the collars. The charge last an average of three days. They are small and unobtrusive on my larger dogs but may be too heavy for a tiny breed (or my cat unfortunately) I am extremely pleased with the range that the collars hit. I have a large double lot yard and lots of hiding places. These are really the best I have ever used and I have had at least 2 other brands. But as a consideration to your dog I recommend that you test them on yourself and make anyone who uses them to test them on themselves so they have a complete understanding of the amount of force they are using.

I have two pitts that are very friendly. They are well behaved and listen pretty well with two exceptions. One has a very strong prey drive, he has never killed anything, but he loves to chase! Both LOVE the neighbors - they have a rat terrier and a 5 year old boy. If either one is outside, the dogs will not listen and run right over there to play. The neighbors don't mind - they love my boys. But my boys poop in their yard. Big difference in poop from a 7-8 pound rat terrier and two pitts. Product was easy to figure out, charged very quickly and I have yet to need to recharge. I use the bell and the vibration, only used bell then shock once. The vibration makes them nervous, it causes no pain but they are unsure of what it is. I use the bell, if they do not respond to my command quickly I use the vibration. It appears they try to run away from the vibration. Knowing the vibration comes after the sound of the bell, I haven't used the vibration in a long time -- they hear the bell and follow the command. A deer was in the yard when I let the dogs out, and they were after him. I yelled "no", but neither listened. I hit the bell and one dog stopped immediately, returned to the yard. The other was still on a dead run, was quickly getting out of range and headed towards the road. I used the shock. It clearly was painful regardless of what the description or other reviews state. He yelped and jumped sideways. Pitts register almost no pain - very high tolerances. So this did hurt him. I had it set on 50. With that said, I would make the same decision today. It is a very busy two lane country high way. Many people around here refer to it as "the dog killer". Many dogs have chased deer into that road and been hit by a semi. Most of the yard is in the side and the acreage is in the back. I have dialed down the intensity of the shock to 30. However, he may take a few gallops into the front yard chasing a deer or a squirrel, but he doesn't get far and slows and turns back around. If I press the bell, he stops immediately and comes back to the porch. I have never had to use the shock again. The vibration mode wasn't used again after about a week of training.

I Bought this to help train my two dogs to stop barking when it wasn't warranted. I can't comment on the shock capabilities as I have never and hopefully will never need to use it. So far I have only used the Vibrate and the Noise functions which work great. I use the collars as they came and have not installed any of the screw in contact pins. This way my dogs can wear the collars for longer periods without irritation and they still work great on the vibrate function even on relatively long hair (A Husky/Australian Cattle Dog mix and a Rottweiler/German Shepherd mix) The Backlight on the display is very nice at night/while camping. I really like the ability to use one remote for two dogs, once paired the remote remembers the settings you have for each dog and changing between dogs is as easy as pushing a button. Each setting goes from 0-100. For vibration I have one on 18 and the other on 30, when used it just vibrates like an PS4 or Xbox controller. Another reviewer complained about having to turn them on - all you have to do is push a button- which I do just before I put the collars on- so no big deal. The collars will go to sleep if the dog doesn't move but they wake up and are on once the dog moves, which saves the battery power. Make sure you charge them fully before using them. Mine last over 8 hours on one charge. I haven't tested the range of the remote but they do work for at least 150 feet and through the walls of my house. One note: In all the descriptions on Amazon they state that all the versions are waterproof, but if you check the manufacturers website, 2 are water resistant and one is waterproof. So if your dog is going to go swimming/ in water make sure you get the waterproof one. I would definitely recommend this, I use the vibrate to reinforce my verbal commands and nuisance barking has been cut by at least 50% in the first week and now they respond much better to just the verbal command.

I have to admit I was a little leery about purchasing this for my dogs. I have two amazing doodles that loves to bark at everything. We put the colors on both dogs and because the remote control can be used on both dogs it makes it really simple to operate. There are three different functions with these dog collars. I wouldn't recommend using the shock function on the collars!! We started using the vibration function just to disturb the dogs barking. And it works amazing, we have now switched to just the sound function. And amazingly it works great. Now all we have to do is put the collars on the dogs and they are absolutely wonderful. No more screaming at the dogs.

this is a great collar, works well. i just wish that the ZAP was alot stronger than it is. my dogs have electric fence collars that zap them well if they get near it and so they are use to it. this option is good for a dog who isn't use to it. it deters them for a day or two then they just go back to barking. so i gave it 4 stars because it would work well for most dogs.
