Red Heart Roll with it Melange Paparazzi

Crystal at Bag O Day on her YouTube channel had recently presented a stitch I had never seen before that she called “knotted half double” and I wanted to try it with this self-striping yarn. The colors showed mostly greens on line so I ordered just two cakes. When they arrived the colors were amazing! Not just greens, but every shade of green you could imagine interspersed with bright lime, deep purple, teal, bright blue. The stitch is a close one that makes very tiny eyelets and textured rows that look like furrows in a field. The yarn is easy to work with, does not split despite being over-wrapped with various colors in order to get all those wonderful shades. Yes, I had to do a little color control when I found too much lime or purple was weighing down too heavily in a couple of areas. The yarn is soft, a medium 4 weight with a recommended hook size of 5.5mm/I-9. I found that too loose for the stitch I was using and went with a size 7/4.5mm hook. As the yarn is over-wrapped, there are some thicker and thinner sections but they do not adversely affect the overall stitching. The stitch I used is a bit of a “yarn eater” so I ordered an additional bag of 3 cakes from Amazon to finish my blanket. It is very colorful and looks great on my family room sage green sofa and is perfect for a rainy day read.

Any time I hear red heart I’m like eh.. scratchy inexpensive acrylic, there are the exceptions, this yarn is one!!!!! Wow super soft, super easy to glide off my hook, the colors are AMAZING, no splitting, no tangles, I love this yarn!!!! Thank you Red Heart for making an excellent quality, super fun, super soft yarn!!! I have to go buy more now.

The colors of this jewel tone yarn are rich and gorgeous. It's amazingly soft. I can't wait to wait to wear the cardigan I'm going to use this for. I am a huge fan of this Red Heart Melange yarn, and I'm looking forward to creating with the other colors.Edited to add: I am finding the thickness of this to be a little inconsistent. There are areas where the yarn is thinner than in other places. It's not that big of a deal to me, because this project is for me. If I were making it for a gift or to sell, it might be an issue.

This yarn is thinner than I expected, so making a gauge swatch would be helpful to assure correct size of needle is chosen. The yarn does not stretch, more like a string type of product , as opposed to a yarn that springs back. I'm using it for prayer shawls so gauge not as important. Currently doing a v-stitch pattern and it's working out well. I love the color changes - not too short, not too long. It works up soft and nice to the touch, a comforting project result.

My first time weaving placemats. It buckled ALOT so maybe not the best for loom weaving. But it was so pretty I had to keep going. Challenging but worth it.

Yarn is easy to work with and very pretty. The color changes are fairly frequent and subtle which looks nice but will not create good striping unless you are making very narrow bands. I have made several clothing items with Melange yarn(several different colorways) over the last couple of years and they were well received.

I love this yarn. It brings the colours of Autumn leaves to life. I am crocheting a shell shawl and it is beautiful. Soft to touch with on thread breakage.

This yarn was easy to work with. No problems with splitting. Hard to tell from photos, but the yarn is quite sparkly and the colors are like a root beer float. Washed up well and is nicely soft.

Love the way the color changes quickly and the project has quite a classy look.

Lovely yarn. The variegated colours are beautiful. Just start making granny squares for a sweater and so far I really love the look.
