Ingersoll Rand 118MAX Air Hammer

This tool here has more power than the air hammers other guys in my shop bought off the tool trucks... after they try theirs and are unsuccessful they ask to borrow mine... I love it.... superior performance at a reasonable price... easy to use not a lot of kick back and movement when using this tool

Good all around air hammer. Not sure about the comments stating it will beat the tool truck hammers for power, but it does seem to have above average power, and absorbs a lot of the vibration instead of sending it through your wrists. I recently had Matco's biggest baddest air hammer, and it hit a bit harder than this, but it was temperamental as hell. Guy at work has an old Snap on PH2050, and it hits way harder than this IR. But, considering the price difference of the IR compared to both, I can live with it taking slightly longer than the others. Would buy again.

I have not used this a lot but I did compare its power to a much more expensive brand. It is similar enough that they seemed equal. Most of the designs of air tools are very similar so if you don't don't misuse it ,it will perform as well as a over priced 'boutique brand'.

IR should be ashamed to put their name on this product. I lightly used this item a handful (<10 times) of times and one day it just failed with no warning signs, sounds like something either broke inside or is stuck. Item was never dropped or abused. Very poor quality build and design. Amazon did its thing and refunded me promptly so cheers to them. I would not recommend this item as it would not even hold up to home garage use.

I've bought this exact air hammer twice,I warrantied the first one(not an Amazon purchase) because it stopped working very shortly after it was taken out of the box I got my money back I bought one from amazon thinking I may have just gotten unlucky the first time and even though it lasted a little longer it stopped working just like the first one,I keep my air dry and tools well lubricated I wound up returning it for a full refund without a hassle thanks to amazon.

Alright so I'm reading this and lots of people say there hammer just stop working, here is your helpful fix. The air hammer will not work unless you have a bit in it and pressure against the piston inside, they do that so the piston doesn't shoot out every time you use it. Most of the bad reviews aren't actually broke.
