Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 (3rd Gen) USB Audio Interface

The audio interface is really a great investment for someone who is just starting out. The 2i2 gives only two inputs and 2 outputs but this 4i4 gives 4 inputs (2 mic/line level + 2 only line level inputs) and 4 outputs which is useful in the long run. This also has Loopback feature which is especially useful for podcasts, streamers. Sound quality is amazing. Noise reduction is pretty good. Use good quality cables and mic. For mic, Shure SM-58 seems to be a great choice. Studio monitors and headphones are recommended (but not mandatory) to get the most out of your Music Production quality. You can add these gradually in your music arsenal. This 4i4 also has MIDI so if you already have a keyboard which has MIDI outputs, you can connect it to the interface using MIDI cable. (MIDI OUT from keyboard to MIDI IN of Scarlett). Works fine and MIDI data is captured (used Ableton, but should work in any DAW). The Focusrite Control software works fine. It allows you to toggle functions like Air, Pad and toggle Line/Inst inputs and also route outputs, control volume, or mute. I think it's good that these functions are operated by software and not by physical buttons, which makes the audio interface less crowded and clean (as opposed to having knobs everywhere). This also makes the size of the interface smaller and portable. The only problem is the default cable that comes with any Focusrite Scarlett model. It is of extremely low quality and loose. Keeps disconnecting. I went ahead and bought Amazon Basics braided cable (red) as you can see in the photo. (Or buy a good cable which is short, as long cable increases attenuation.) This is a nice cable from Amazon and solves disconnection issues. It also looks awesome with that matching red color! Focusrite should collaborate with Amazon and include this cable as default!! If you are looking for a good audio interface around 20k with long time performance, go with 4i4. Other one you can go for is Solid State Logic SSL2+ (4 i/p and 4o/p) but this one is costly and big size, not too portable.

May be the one of the best. Build quality, sound quality all is good. But for home studio you will need high range computer to operate the software coz it comes with protocols and abletone. Its some how very tricky to download the software which come with the item. If you are serious about quality than go for it.

I got the product which was not working, then I replaced it and the new one is working well! This is a good product for your home studio.

Biggest reason to go with this instead of the 2i2 was the pad feature since the 2i2 does not have it and if you are a metal guitarist with really hot pickups like bareknuckles then you will really need the pad feature so that you don't clip . Now coming to the review the 4i4 has much more than the 2i2 and it's a complete package for guitarists .It has a compact size with all the features of scarlett's big sized interfaces like the focusrite control software. This things looks beautiful and works smooth . Hoping to work on this for eternity ❤️❤️

Focusrite is a studio quality professional audio interface. There is no compromise if you get 2i2 except the extra buttons. Sound quality will get professional quality if you have a good microphone along with this. Dont think, go for it.

This is a great unit, comes with a generous software and instrument package. Gives you four input, four output and you can route your signal however you want. Also there is a loopback function to record your computer sounds, plus there's a 5pin midi IN/midi OUT connector for daisy chain your midi devices if you want. Also there is a headphone output INPUTS 2 x combi mic/instrument/line XLR inputs with 48V phantom power 2 x 1/4"balanced fixed line inputs Stereo Loopback Input 1 x 5-pin MIDI input OUTPUTS 4 x 1/4" balanced line outputs 1 x stereo headphone output 1 x 5-pin MIDI output 2 x Scarlett Mic Preamps with a wide 56 dB gain range and +22dBu maximum input level Direct hardware monitoring in mono or stereo THis is a USB bus powered unit (requires a port with at least 900mA) plug and play, just connect to your PC or Mac, connect your mics/instruments, set up routing in its sw and happy days. I am using it with a Samson Q2U XLR mic, and found the preamp has very low noise and with 75-80%(ish) gain it's perfect for spoken word applications. The preamps should easily drive an sm7b. The visul indicator for clipping is OK, it's around the gain knob and you can set it's colours but not the best way to check your levels (hello MOTU!), maybe it's personal preference, perfectly usable to avoid clipping. All in all it's a very capable little unit, small, easy to use, gives you plenty of options to record your thing.

Like: いろいろ調べて、ネイティブのYoutuberの話を聞くと、早期からPro Toolsとコラボで、大変素晴らしい会社と思いますし、音楽を愛する会社と感じています。沢山のネイティブyoutuberの話を聞いて、Focusriteとdbx 286sと繋いで録音する人が多いと思いまいました！ 参考したYoutuber: The Mad Hermit, Julian Krause, Ben Tolosa 私自身はONKYOのSE-U55とdbx 286sと繋いで十分と思いましたが、マイクはSennheiser XSWの無線マイクを使って録音してみたのですが、音質は非常にいいですが、しかし、ONKYOとdbxの間にアマチュアの延長線で赤白ケーブルで変換アダブタを繋いだりして、結局はノイズが結構入りました。 問題はケーブルっか！ノイズのない録音したいので、Focusrite 4i4を調達し、ONKYO SE-U55と交換、ちゃんとしたのケーブル（プロスタンダード6.35mm - XLR）でSennheiser XS-1で録音してみたら、結果は文句なし。AWESOME! この4i4を選択した理由はMidのin / outがあるので、キーボードからの音声を録音する予定です。 本体の色も赤彗星と同じ 気になること Focusriteは基本的にパソコンで制御すると思います。 Mac miniのUSB A - USB C 繋いで出力先はYAMAHA MSP3、パソコンからの音声は鳴らします。 Line in にWin 10の3.5mm > 白赤ケーブルに変換アダプタつなぎ、PCからの音声はならない。Mic in繋いでもならなかった。 MacにFocusrite Control ソフトを入れて、ファームウェア自動アップデートし、Input Settings Analogue 1（Line）はオレンジ色になっている。なにも弄っていないのですが、Win 10の音声が鳴らしました。 安定性について、使って１日目、詳細は後日評価したらと思います。
