mens Open Face Balaclava

Last year I started wearing full-face helmets again while on my motorcycle and having a lightweight, wick-away balaclava in between my head and the helmet's interior makes for a much more comfortable ride. It also makes putting the helmet on much easier as my ears don't get folded down or put into an uncomfortable spot, and adjusting the helmet is easier overall. This balaclava does feel initially as if it will be too tight but it stretches nicely and is very comfortable all day, and it feels as though the helmet's ventilation works better, allowing the rider to feel the cooling airflow through the helmet. I wear an HJC RPHA 70 ST and even on the hottest days it stays cool inside with the help of this balaclava. Another major advantage? The helmet interior seems far less likely to start to stink. Even after numerous all-day rides, the helmet still smells like new inside. That said, I do have to include the part about how these balaclavas stank when I opened the plastic bags into which they were packaged. My living room smelled as though a large quantity of fuel oil had been spilled. The smell was so strong it induced a headache and I felt nauseated. I had to hang both balaclavas outside for three days just to get the smell at a point where I felt I could run the balaclavas through the wash. I was concerned that if I had put them through the wash immediately they would have made everything else in the washer stink, too. With hope it was just fluke with my order but who knows? Other than that, I do recommend this balaclava for rides in warmer temps as it should make the ride more comfortable and enjoyable.

I’ve had a couple of these now and this one is by far superb, works very well. Protects your helmet from getting stinky, the material is the perfect thickness. It’s warm when you need it to be and also very breathable for the warmer days. It’s a little on the pricey side but worth it in my opinion.

The balaclava fits great, might feel a little tighter in the beginning but it will stretch a little. It covers the neck too so it helps to avoid with zipper of leather rash. I really like the open face design as it allows you to breathe freely. The opening is large enough to cover all the head except your face, not impeding visibility at all, but not so large that it would move back into the helmet and down the back of the neck. It stays in place. It is made with a blend of natural and synthetic fibers, it feels good and doesn't make you hot. If you want to use it for the winter you should probably look at a different one, as this one is not warming. It is great value for the money. I am definitely getting another one or two.

Saw a lot of reviews and could understand their point as it is a tighter fit around the opening/neck area but it worked perfectly for me. Great quality fabric and makes it a lot easier to put on and take off my helmet. It came in an alpinestars zipped bag and looks A1 accompanied with my helmet. Definitely would buy again. If your necks/heads a little on the thicker side then it may be an issue with fitment but I am pleased with my purchase.

This balaclava is essentially non-stretch and the opening measures 5.75" in diameter or about 46 cm in circumference (5.75" diameter x pi = ~18" circumference. 18in x 2.54 cm/in = ~46cm circumference). pi = 3.1415926... . How do I know? I have an exercise ball that is 5-3/4" in diameter. I can just barely fit it into the neck opening of the balaclava. See the images. According to the CDC, 46cm is the average head circumference of a 1-1/2 year old child. My head circumference is about 60cm (7.5" diameter x pi = ~23.5" x 2.54cm/in > ~60cm). 60cm goes into 46cm not at all. But, if your infant is into biking, this balaclava is for you. Looks cool and seems well-made. Nicely packaged so it'd make a great birthday gift for that special little kiddo too. Vroom!

Great mask to wear as a liner under motorcycle helmet, keeps you dry on hot weather, only issue I found is that when you wash it, at least the first 2 hand washes with dishwashing liquid, it bleeds color, no big issue, I think that would be normal, the mask feels tight but not uncomfortable at all, fabric feels soft. It fits tight under the helmet, which is exactly how it should be to stay comfortable while riding. The material is breathable and well made. It’s not really for winter use, but perfect for mid-season rides. Recommended.
