Gal Gohan Vol. 1

Don't Judge a Book by it's Cover
Now you look at that cover and go "oh, this is going to be one of 'those' manga." And you'd be wrong.Inside that sexually charged cover of a gal girl you find a love story that is embedded in the culture of many countries, the story of a student that comes to fall for their teacher. The teacher wrestling with the emotions the student is showing them with, while suppressing their own feelings as the one that loves them is currently a student. But there's the rub 'currently', and Miku, our gal girl, points out to her sensei, Shinji, that she won't always be his student. However Shinji is still conflicted, because while this is true, he is actively working with her every day to see her graduate. So in a way, it is like he is furthering her goal of being able to date him. And further more, another girl gets added to the mix, and so begins the love triangle. What is a single male teacher roughly in his 30's to do?

Cute gal, cute story.
I really love school life manga. They bring back so many interesting memories. The ones involving this type of scenario - the forbidden relationship between a overly sexy student, & a pent-up, oblivious, clueless instructor, who is also handsome & likeable, well they are so much fun to read. I like where this is going, at least I think I do, it may step too far past the line of what's appropriate, but i don't think it will. Art, very well done. Dialogue, a bit silly, but good. Characters, believable, likeable, relatable, & in the gal's place, completely adorable.

Just average storywise
Not a badly drawn manga, and it has a neat concept, but the story just sort of jumps off without much setup at all. And it's a little creepy, even for a manga, how readily the teacher buys into being hit on by a teenage girl. If you can ignore that part and ignore how flimsy the setup is, the rest of the manga is funny and well-done.

Good, but online translations were better
A great story, but I preferred the online translations. That's just personal preference and me being very picky. Just something about Miku's gyaru-iness wasn't quite as on the mark with the scanlation I read. Even the art was not the same as the scans - some of the line weight and shading wasn't present, which was very unexpected from an official release, and made no sense.Still, again, love the story.

Hilarious
Super funny, watching Yabe trying to fend off Miku’s advances (whenever he does realize that she’s making advances) is a riot. Too bad volumes 4 and 5 are not available here.

The start of the romcom
This manga is a cute romantic comedy with cooking elements.

Not what I expected, but still good
I downloaded this manga sight unseen because I assumed it would be similar to "How Heavy are the Dumbbells You Lift?" as it always popped up in my recommendations with that manga. Basically, I expected it to be a cooking guide disguised as a manga, and a fun way to learn about cooking, in the same way that Dumbbells is a fun way to read about fitness. However, Gal Gohan isn't really about cooking; it's about a teenage girl who has a crush on her teacher. It has much more in common with a manga like "Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!", with a lot less teasing. If the idea of a teacher and student dating makes you uncomfortable, don't worry: there isn't any hint of romance, as the teacher is completely ignorant of his student's feelings, and it will likely remain that way until the student (a gal named Miku) graduates and becomes a legal adult.Again, this manga wasn't what I was expecting, but it's still worth reading. I'm looking forward to volume two.
