The performance is amazing. If you can utilize it.
My user experience barely changed when switching to an Intel 750 [400GB, NVME] from an EVO840 [256GB, SATA]. In addition, when using NVME drives with Socket 1150 processors may involve shenanigans managing your PCIe lanes.M2 SSDs need x2 PCIe and seem to generally share lanes with USB 3.1, so you have to choose one or the other. The 750, on the other hand, requires a 4x PCIe slot, which I didn't see on any of the motherboards at Microcenter (or online, looking against the list of Intel's tested motherboards). You plug it into an x16 slot, which will then drop to x8, giving x8 to each your video card & SSD (in a single-card setup) or x8/x4/x4 to GPU/GPU/SSD respectively on motherboards that support that PCIe configuration. My installation was bumpy. The new motherboard I purchased for it's NVME support required a BIOS update out of the box to get said support. The directions from Intel which included "Because NVMe is still a maturing technology, configuring your system to boot from an NVMe SSD can be a confusing task." were completely accurate. Even with a motherboard on their tested list, getting the motherboard updated and configured to see the device at all took me more than 2 hours. I am not new to building or configuring computers - I've installed brand new SIPPs, resolved IRQ conflicts and my first modem connection was at 300 baud.Objectively, the performance is amazing.Subjectively, my move to this SSD (which included a mandatory motherboard/processor jump from i5-3570K to a i5-4690K purely to support NVME) has been disappointing. I game (current titles, like Dying Light) and use photoshop/illustrator for production work, with photoshop files in particular ending up in the 2GB range. Load/save times in PS have improved, but they weren't bad before. Little else has changed - perhaps level loads for larger games are a little faster, but I didn't time before/afters.Overall, I would recommend a SATA SSD, over this SSD, for all but the absolute heaviest users.

It's not the drive's fault, it's your own !!!
I think people who don't like this drive do so because of their unrealistic expectations. I happened to fall victim to the same frame of mind so I know. You see the specs for his drive and all its computing speed with all the benchmarks and such, and you get giddy about it. So you go and purchase this drive and think to yourself, " if my Samsung 850 SSD loads up in about 10 seconds, this thing must load up instantly." Just the thought of it makes you start to chomp at the bit. You rip open the package and install it into your system, load windows on it and wait for the restart. After the restart you realize...."what the hell. Why is it loading slower than my SSD ?" Which is where the problem lies. For whatever technical reason, this drive isn't as fast at loading the OS as an SSD. I am sure the issue will be addressed going forward, but for now, it is what it is. What it does do however, is to load program instantly. Writing to this drive is ridiculously fast, as is reading from it. The slow booting isn't the drive's fault. It is the fault of the OS, UEFI, and motherboard. Perhaps if you would liek an instant boot up, you could install a SSD as your boot drive, and then use this drive as your storage drive.Case: Corsair 780TPSU: Corasir 850RMCPU: Intel i7-5820KCPU Cooler: Corsair H110i GTXMB: Asus x99 Pro 3.1GPU: Asus GeForce GTX 750Ti (going to change to something with a display port)RAM: G-Skill Ripjaws 4 32GB 2800Intel 750 - 400GBWD Black - 2TB Drive(Going to Add)SSD: Samsung EVO850 - 250GBSamsung 951 M.2 (scratch disk)HDD: 12 WD Black 4TB (Raid 1) and a WD Black 2TB to run in Raid 1 with the otherThis is my rig for photo editing.
