And after the install, I tried running it, and I got popup errors from MIcrosoft about missing Visual Studio runtime dlls. Now I develop software for a living - I know what those things are and where to get them, but to have this go out with this type of rookie error left a bad taste. I found the missing dlls elsewhere, and started to run the thing. I quickly discovered that the 3D view stuff simply didn't work. Any attempt to switch to a 3D view resulted in a solid blue or grey screen. If all I wanted was a 2D design, I would have just used Visio. I had a hypothesis that the problem was that the graphics on my laptop simply wasn't up to the task - either OpenGL or DirectX. So I went and installed on a 2nd machine with a far more substantial video card. That actually worked, and I could start to figure out how to use the thing. I suspect that on the laptop that something was failing, and the program simply failed to check error return codes. Or something like that - it isn't my job to try and debug other people's software. Someone who is a non-software developer would have just given up and demanded a refund. I really would have been willing to pay a human to do this stuff for me. The one person we did find who sort of seemed like he might be suitable turned out to be a screwup. And lacking any other recommendations, I decided that, I am going to have to do this myself. I just needed usable software, and running into usability bugs like this really irritated me. There is a way to edit the countertop in the Cabinet properties but it won’t do many styles like a countertop tool would. This is not a beginner friendly program. Even adding different textures to a single wall is an unnecessary, time consuming chore. There also isn’t near enough tutorial videos. They do link you to something called Cadsoft but then Cadsoft links you to Envisioneer which is an entirely different program which is not THIS program.
