The Best of the Iron Man Films
This is the best of the Iron Man movies. I remember when all the reviewers were saying the origional iron man was amazing. I saw the first Iron Man, and thought it was good, but not as great as so many people made it out to be (I did not enjoy iron man 2).In this film, Iron Man faces off against a shadowy organization connected to his past. It caused a great deal of controversy because the character of the Madarin is nothing like his comic book counterpart. This disappointed a lot of people because the Madarin is considered to be Iron Man's most famous foes. What makes this movie the best Iron Man film, is that Tony Stark spends most of this movie without his armor. The second half of this movie is actually more like a James Bond film than a super hero film, but that a good thing. Too often super heroes become more powerful and face stronger foes in their sequels. In this film, Tony Stark is weaker than he has ever been, and that just adds to the suspense.

Lots of Action & Humor
I love the one liners and the sense of humor this movie has even though its an action movie! When things should seemingly be serious, Robert Downey Jr., pops off something sarcastic and it had me laughing! Great movie! I liked that I could watch it with my husband and our sons and there weren't nude/make-out scenes, despite it being action packed- it was not gory, language wasn't offensive either. We have watched it multiple times!

2nd tier Marvel release because bad guy wasn't that bad and the 1 that should've been wasn't
Unfortunately each of the succeeding Iron Man films was not as good as its predecessor. That was in part because the first was such a groundbreaking release which set the mood and tone of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. Iron Man 3 was still enjoyable but was in the second tier of Marvel movies with the likes of Doctor Strange and Thor The Dark World. The theme of the movie was unintended consequences. As Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) explains in the opening, “We create our own demons.”Stark was specifically referring to a conference in 1999 when he was still a freewheeling playboy who was often irresponsible. He blew off a researcher named Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce) who’d created a group called Advanced Idea Mechanics (AIM) and slept with the scientist Maya Hansen (Rebecca Hall) and then forgot about them. Killian would be his foe in this film with AIM becoming a criminal organization along with the Mandarin (Ben Kingsley), while Hansen would work for him on something called Extremis that was another attempt to create a super soldier. This relates to the theme that if Stark had paid attention to people back in the day they might not have come back to haunt him. Killian was not a big figure in the comics, but AIM was one of the main villains right up there with Hydra. The Mandarin was also one of Iron Man’s biggest foes. The movie completely changed the character to a figurehead however, which was greatly criticized by fans of the comics.Another part of the theme was Stark suffering post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) from the first Avengers film. He constantly had flashbacks and panic attacks as a result of him almost dying at the end of that film. Again, his past was affecting him.The main flaw with the story was that Killian just wasn’t that much of a bad guy, and the one that should have been the main villain the Mandarin really wasn’t. A good action movie always has to have a strong villain otherwise it doesn’t give the audience much reason to care about the conflict in the story. Killian had a scheme to exploit the war on terror for his own profit, but is that really a good driving plot? That’s the reason why Iron Man 3 is definitely a second tier Marvel movie.C

So much for the vaunted Iron Man trilogy
Seriously, it must be a bunch of ten year old kids who are giving Marvel movies all of these five star reviews. The first Iron Man movie was mediocre. The second and third movies of the "trilogy" are absolutely terrible. What's wrong with Iron Man 3 in particular? Well, the Iron Man suit doesn't function properly for most of the movie, the central hero now suffers from panic attacks, the inclusion of a know-it-all precocious child character out of a sitcom, and now there are about 30 or so Iron Man suits which all seem to have been made in Vietnam since they are easily destroyed. Oh, and Tony Stark gets upstaged by at least three characters in this film - Pepper, War Machine, and the annoying kid. The Marvel cinematic universe is vastly overrated as far as I'm concerned. The only films of theirs that I really liked were the first Avengers movie in 2012, and Infinity War. Endgame was so-so, and I have not enjoyed a single other Marvel movie.

This movie would have been good except:1) it has a couple of plot holes so dumb it's painful2) the bad guy's abilities are never fully fleshed out and just seem lazy and dumb3) film succumbs to the lazy genius cliche that says once someone is a genius, they can do almost anything without any prior experience or training.

It's like Good V. Bad
The performance of Robert Downey jr was amazing throughout this movie, and the "Iron Man" ingenuity was excellent. The depiction of PTSD in public sent chills up my spine personally. The other signs of PTSD expressed through multiple "Armors" built as a security blanket and outlet for frustration and fear, and the significance of casting it aside. Then their was the villain, who sucked, and it was weird sciencey. Ultimately hard to follow. I mean a white guy getting powerful by stealing a woman's work and pinning it on minorities through carefully orchestrated media campaign. Yeah that's a realistic villain. (But the fire-plant? whaaaa?)

Worst of the MCU
Only just bought this on DVD but I really wish i hadnt - sadly, its easily the worst of the MCU films. This film has neither the grit and originality of the first film nor the humour (I loved Sam Rockwell’s Justin Hammer) and set pieces that charcterised the second. How come the Iron Man armour now falls to pieces so easily in this one? How on earth did Iron Man manage to fight off aliens galore in Avengers in such shoddy kit?! This is a bloated mess. I thought we were probably heading for cliche-territory when Christmas references started to be dropped heavily, but the introduction of that old chestnut The Cute Kid to save Tony Stark at one point almost had me gagging. And I can suspend disbelief with the best of them normally, but Guy Pearce and his bunch of Extremis-engineered humans who can burn and regenerate at the same time take the biscuit. And how come Pearce’s clothes don’t burn off some times but to at others? Of course, Pepper’s bra WAS fireproof, not surprisingly. Straight down the charity shop with this tomorrow where it can join Ed Norton’s The Incredible Hulk.

Great Third Iron Man Film
I thought this was a pretty solid third film the Iron Man series. Once again Tony's past is coming back to bite him in the proverbial to offer up a new enemy set on mass destruction. Stark and the supporting characters are all once again developed well and there are some brilliant action scenes and great effects. It feels like a good end to the Iron Man standalone films if this is the last one and I found it very well paced and entertaining from start to finish. I wasn't the biggest fan of Iron Man so skipped the Iron Man films initially as the MCU unfolded on the big screen, but saw all the other films. I really liked how Downey portrayed him though I still found his character kind of annoying. Finally watching all the Iron Man films whilst doing a full run leading up to Thor 3 recently though really changed my mind about the character and Downey once again does a really good job of bringing the superhero to life.

Very good
*Contains minor spoilers.* This is one of the few MCU films I hadn't seen so decided to check it out. I remember at the time of its release someone telling me that there was a plot twist that I'd either love or hate. On the down side, with the exception of the Mandarin the villains are a bit weak and the film doesn't really impact the wider MCU world. On the plus side, everything else works. The action sequences are great and there's quite a few of them. There's some genuinely funny scenes here too. Also Robert Downey Jr is genuinely charismatic and fun to watch. That's not to say that the rest of the acting is bad, it isn't. Oh, and for my money the *twist* is genius.

Explosive! Literally!
Following on from Iron Man 2 and the Avengers. Tony Stark is continuing to be the billionaire playboy that happens to be a superhero however his past is once again about to haunt him. In this film we start to see a few similarities to real life, random terrorist attacks and a figurehead for this cell against America. Though all is not as it seems and recent events start to take their Toll on the once over confident hero.Armed with dozens of suits, a mutant girlfriend and a kid with his own garage, Ironman returns to the screen for another big, action packed and humerous showdown. I think this is probably my favourite of the Ironman films! What's better than one Ironman? Two Ironmen... Done that last film...so what's better? lots and lots of Ironmen!
