I bought the 5–6 Player Extension for CATAN so our whole group could finally play together, and it absolutely delivered. If you already enjoy the base game, this is pretty much a must-have once your group grows beyond four players. The extension integrates seamlessly with the original game—same look, same feel, and no complicated changes to learn. The additional tiles, roads, settlements, and cards are well-made and match the base set perfectly. Setup takes a little longer just because of the larger board, but it also makes the game feel more dynamic and open. One thing to be aware of is that adding more players does increase the game length. Our sessions tend to run quite a bit longer, especially with players who like to negotiate a lot. That said, the added interaction and trading opportunities with the additional players makes it worth it. The only downside is that you must already own the base CATAN game—this is strictly an expansion, not a standalone product, so buying this alone won't do you any good. Overall, this extension is fantastic and well worth the purchase.

I was introduced to Catan 6-7 months ago and have played many dozens of rounds since. I bought the expansions within weeks of getting the original game and I can't imagine playing without them. The 5-6 player expansion is critical to replayability. We use Seafarers and the Cities & Knights expansions as well. With these three expansions, the map layouts can be randomized and varied to create maps that are so crazy that each game is vastly different and strategies have to fluctuate and veer pretty far. I love the randomness that can be achieved and it just wouldn't be possible without the 5-6 person expansion. If you love Catan, the 5-6 person expansion is a must. Even if you're playing fewer people, the extra pieces allow for maps that are more unique and make players think outside the norm and the more chaotic the map, the more you have to adapt to. It helps to keep it from getting stale with a set strategy where you just go through the motions.

After deciding we needed a new family game and doing quite a bit of research, I took my chances on Catan, a game I knew nothing about but thought might appeal to my high schooler, college students, and spouse. Though the box sat unopened for a year because the game "sounded" complicated and too much like role play, once we decided to give it a try, we were all hooked! Set up takes a minute and it might take a few rounds to get used to wheeling and dealing with your opponents, but the strategy (and sometimes cunning) is very entertaining. Truly, I'm not one for most games (though I enjoy card games such as Heart and Gin Rummy), I look forward to sitting down for a couple of hours with my family playing Catan. Somewhat similar to Monopoly in terms of buying and trading (for those who don't get bored with Monopoly before trading starts), I find Catan much more entertaining. Remember, if you want to play with more than four people, you must purchase the expansion pack, which is the only bummer. They also offer other versions that we've enjoyed such as the Seafarers version.

Got this as a gift and the kids absolutely love it. It’s perfect for when more people want to join in the fun. It is a smooth add-on to the base game and keeps things exciting with more players. If your crew loves CATAN, this extension is totally worth it.

This is the best game out there, in my opinion. My adult children come over every Sunday to play. We have the expansion pack to play 6 people. We also bought the Seafarers expansion and extension. This is a very fun twist to the game. The inventors of this game are geniuses, and are very wealthy! 😂

Love settlers of catan and the 5-6 player expansion is a nice addition to it so you can play with more people. It’s clearly marked, but just want to reiterate this is not a standalone game and you need to have the Settlers of Catan base game in order to use this. Just a word of advise, 6 person games can be a tad slow, but 5 is great. I also love using the bigger board from this expansion with 4 people even though it is not necessary. Increasing the board size changes the strategy some from playing with 4 on a regular size map.

本体ではなく、拡張版でした。 英語だったのでよく読まずに買って失敗です。これだけでも遊べるのかどうかは謎です。サイコロはなし。 当然ですが、拡張分の追加2人分しか入っていません。まず、本体を買わないとダメですね💦

Best board game to have fun with

Excellent game! The original, base game of Catan is awesome and so addictive that I ended up buying this extension too (please note that this product is indeed an extension only.. pointless without the base game). In the age of smartphones, PC games and PlayStation etc. this is a rare item indeed! Entertainment for the entire family! Only one small drawback is that in this newer version of Catan (both base game and extension), the frames and colors for the resources are a little dull. They could easily have been a little brighter and of a more visually appealing color. But rest assured knowing that this is a tiny price to pay for the level of fun this game guarantees!

Very good to play if you have 4 people playing as well, I find the base verison is a little too small for 4 people, but this big one adds a good amount to the game.
