Copic Coloring Guide Level 3: People

The too frequent orange people.
In this book we can see that the artist does know how to color faces without that orange tint that Copic seems to somehow feel is natural for Caucasian humans. Some of her artwork is lovely and natural looking. There are still a lot of orange faces In many of her pictures, though! The book is useful but, annoying, because I am so tired, as a fair skinned person, of seeing orange people. What’s with Copic? When have you ever seen a person with orange-ish tints in their skin?

Informative but could be better
I found this book to be better than the Level 4 book in this 4 book series. Keep in mind that the co-authors are employees of the company that makes Copic Markers but the publication is from Annie's (so set your expectations on quality accordingly). One author is a product developer (ie. technical writer for certification manuals) and the other is a Copic Marker "educator" and certification instructor with an English teaching background. Only Marianne has a degree in fine arts (mixed media). You will get much better instruction and information for free from the Copic Marker You Tube Channel. The walk through tutorial coloring samples in this book are a little better compared to book 4, but the drawings and coloring skills are really not up to par with the work samples at the end of the book by invited guests. The best take aways from this book are the series of color combinations that are charted out for skin and hair, and the highlight and shading how-to information for clothing and hair. Most of the samples in the tutorials on coloring skin look just awful, however, the clothing samples were closer to what I expected. The only information you get on the CD are the illustrations used in the tutorials (It would have been nicer if the images were something I was really inspired to color, none of them were my cup of tea.) and a supply list with measurements for assembling the cards that are in the gallery at the back of the book. You can also print out a sheet of paper with uncolored heads to try out different skin and hair color combinations (again, not the most inspiring faces to look at). I would have to say this did provide more information then I've been able to pick up from online videos so it was a good investment. But I can't say the same for the Level 4 book.

Copic fun!
This is an excellent book. I learned wonderful techniques. They are clearly explained, and easy to follow. I am very glad I ordered this book. I highly recommend it for anyone who wishes to color people with more accuracy. Learn and practice. It's well worth the price.Rae

You need all of it
This book was okay, but it kept making references to stuff learned in the previous books. So in order to understand this book very well you need the books published prior to this one. All in all not a bad book but it really didn't teach me anything so I recommend sticking to YouTube tutorials than buying this if you don't already have the two books before this one. Still nice.

Terrific for tips and ideas!!
I've purchased all three guides and learned quite a bit. I love the sources for stamps and the numbers of Copics sketch markers to use with each. It's help me to began with my first ten Copic sketch markers. Really fun information!!

Great for new and experienced Copic users
I am new to the use of Copics and in an area where there no longer as independent papercrafting stores. I wanted to learn how to use Copics correctly and these books have helped me considerably. Very worthwhile purchase.

Amateur colouring guide, level: irrelevant
I've just acquired this book and "Copic colouring guide level 2". It is obvious that the previous reviews are biased. This book gives you very few examples on how to draw hair, clothes, clothing patterns, etc. And let me add, they are poorly coloured. I'm a an artist wannabe and my drawing skills are below average, even so I can draw better textures than the ones provided.Regarding the "Tutorial Cards", HALF of the book is dedicated to these tutorials where they show you a finished card,. Some of the illustrations featured in the cards are very well coloured and this is the only reason I give the book 2 stars. But the instructions are TEXT only and this makes a lot of difference. The best illustrations in the book only have a step-by-step description, no images, except the finished ones! On the other hand, the other illustrations where they give step-by-step images are subpar. I wouldn't achive, not even a reasonable level of skill using them as tutorials. The CD has the same text tutorials like the book and the printable card images for you to experiment whatever they are describing in the instructions. So, my advice, don't waste your money on this book or any of the collection, they won't teach you anything above the begginer level and with very poor illustrations. There are many other better tutorials on the web provided by the artists for free. Or by a better book on the subject.
