But, THE Bosu is the Balance Trainer, so I think safe to assume "standard" refers to that. The base platform is 25" in diameter (26 1/2 " if handles included). Inflated, the height is 9-10". **Q: I have terrible balance. Would this be helpful to me or is it too challenging for someone with no balance?** A: If there is no medical condition causing the balance issue, I would think this would work to help. It IS tough (or, unfamiliar) at first, so I stood next to a kitchen counter to have easy grasp of a solid surface (and, not next to a window, for instance) I did not do the super advanced skills to begin. Just try the static standing, then shifting weight all directions to get your balance with the ankle in all positions. THEN try picking up one foot and balance on one leg. For some, this will be a walk in the park and they will quickly move thru the included exercise program. I use it like a short strided "stepper" machine, and love it. My strength and balance are improved in just a couple weeks of use. DO take care doing deep lunge moves on and off the ball.... oops, those hip flexors got pretty sore. (user error) It's been fun and easy to use, I keep it in a convenient location for more frequent use. **Q: Does anyone have any tips on how to inflate this thing?** A: I just received mine and I understand why all the problems with inflating! I read all the suggestions; here's what I learned and it worked perfectly and quickly when I understood the problem: The instinct is to push straight down on the pump to inflate the half ball. But that makes it hard for air to go in. So I pumped very slowly at first without slamming the pump down, and a little on an angle. Suddenly I could feel it inflating. It ended up taking less than 5 minutes and the first part is the hardest.
