Still entertaining, but less so
I'd very much enjoyed the first four volumes of the Torpedo series when I got the fifth volume. I'm afraid its the law of diminishing returns. For one thing it seems shorter than the other volumes, so it feels less substantial. Also, the story quality is comparatively shabby. It seems like the originality of the earlier volumes has been replaced by stock scenarios (revenge and kidnapping) amped up by push-button predicaments (rape and child molestation). The art is still first rate, but the writing is less fresh. Frankly, I would've given it 3.5 stars on the strength of the first story, but that wasn't an option, so I'm giving it a generous 4, because it's still unlike anything else out there. Certainly not a great starting point for the newcomer, but not a total loss for the initiated.

This guy is not a hero.
The main character is really nasty and the comic is extremely sexually graphic.

End of the line
Torpedo 5 is the last collection of Torpedo 1936 stories. The authors' formula shows signs of fatigue and this excellent series appears to have lost some of its spark. While still worthwhile for completists, those who want to get an introduction to Torpedo are better advised to explores volumes 2, 3 and 4

funny, shocking and brilliant
This book is lewd, crude, funny, shocking and brilliant. A perfect marriage of story and art. Warning! If you are very sensitive person, you will probably be triggered by this great book.

Graphic violence
Jordi Bernet is a hell of an artist. This book has great art, but is often backed by a weak story with too much emphasis on sex and violence. This is the first volume I bought in this series. I will not buy the other ones.
