Auguson Farms (Country Fresh) Nonfat Powdered Instant Milk. Class C. This took the longest of all products compared to completely dissolve, roughly 150 spoon-stirs. Even then, there was foaming and the product left "legs" on the side of the glass. It should not be mixed directly with hot water, as it will clump and separate. The mouthfeel is gritty, and the flavor is sour and acrid. I found it generally unpleasant, but one of my friends thought it was "not great but ok." The same amount of milk powder was used, mixed into the same amount of room temperature water. The samples were all stirred until completely dissolved. I did not use hot water, because not all products dissolve into hot water. Products were allowed to rest only a minute before sampling, because my intention is to use milk powder per serving. We also compared them with actual non-fat milk.In general all products will taste better when allowed to rest overnight and fully chilled, but the goal of this test was to reveal comparative defects.I have tried: Augason Farms, Carnation, Country Cream, Country Fresh, Emergency Essentials, MilkMan, Nestle, Nido, Organic Valley, Peak, and Provident Pantry.In general, they fall into three categories:A. Emergency Essentials (formerly Provident Pantry). This is quite tolerable and tastes as close to actual milk. It acquires a very slightly sour, burnt taste when mixed into hot water, tea, or coffee; however, it does mix easily into hot water, and overall it is palatable. This is the best powdered non-fat milk.B. MilkMan. Tentatively placed into Class B, because although it is the best low-fat powdered milk product, it has a slightly off-putting “protein” flavor (if you have ever had a protein shake, protein bar, etc. you know what I mean.) Still, it mixes easily into water. It’s quite expensive as well. For my money, I did not feel the slightly richer body was worth the “protein shake” flavor.C. Everything else. All other products suffer from various defects: sour, acrid, bilious flavors; clumping, foaming, significantly increased effort and time to dissolve in water, inability to mix directly with hot water, separation in tea or coffee, grainy mouthfeel. As a caveat, the flavor of Organic Valley is Class B, but its finicky preparation, clumping, and cost put its overall score in Class C.I also encourage people to seek out “The Great Powdered Milk Taste Test” online. It’s a good review, but it’s a bit out of date, since there have been some company mergers/name changes and it left a few products out.

Augason Farms powered milk tastes exactly like real milk. When I received it, my wife wanted to know what I was going to do with that. I told her I was going to store it and use it this winter if we get snowed in. Seems the first thing the stores run out of is milk and bread. I opened it up and made a batch and put it in a half gallon store bought milk jugs and put it in the fridge. My wife did not know I had done this and she drank the milk like it was store bought. She never realized the difference. Now that must be good if it can pass the skeptical wife test.When I opened it, I discovered it is in bulk form. Lots of powdered milk. I split the ratio by half and then bagged the portions so I can just make a quart minimum and I think that will make less waste and stay fresh longer.

I have no plans on opening this powdered milk unless: a) an end of the world scenario plays out, b) mad cow disease kills off the bovine population and milk becomes a trade-able commodity, or c) my 4 year old son wants some milk and I don't feel like driving to the store!

This is great for basic white bread recipes. I haven't tried it mixed up to drink. I'm not a big milk drinker anymore. I bought this for cooking and to have a little tucked away in case of an emergency for my son. I like the sizes of the cans. If you have a big pail of powdered milk and there is a 3-5 day snow storm, you will just use one. IMO the #10 cans are a good size. If you can't stand the thought of powdered milk get some Hot chocolate or Quick. I remember the stuff from when I was little. This doesn't have that funky powdered milk smell. I'm pleased with the product and Amazon's prices. Big difference!!

I'm happily surprised by the quality of this powdered milk. It tastes far better than I expected and has a pleasant, creamy mouthfeel. You do have to mix it correctly to make it behave in hot liquids, though. For my first cup of coffee, I put a small scoop of powdered milk in a mug and poured hot coffee over the top. Big mistake. The proteins in the milk separated, and I ended up with a sludgy mess that didn't taste very good. For my second cup, I put the milk powder in the mug, added a splash of room-temperature water, and mixed until the milk dissolved (in just a couple of stirs). When I poured my hot coffee over the top, the milk blended like a dream. I was shocked by the difference in both texture and taste between the first and second cups. So, the lesson is: Pre-blend this milk in room-temperature water, and it will act the way you want it to. Will definitely buy again when I use this up. If Augason Farms made a powdered nut or coconut milk, I'd be thrilled.

This is great. I wanted this to use for coffee creamer. I like my coffee light but not watered down which is what I get with regular milk or creamer. The taste is good and I'll order this again.

Can is as expected. Mine is dated for Nov 2016, which means unopened this should last 20 years until Nov 2036, though I doubt it'll last that long. Opened, the can says it should last for one (1) year. We camp and hike alot and hope to use this on our trips as a luxury. will update review as necessary. This is one of three different cans we purchased at one time. It seems the more fat is in it, the less time it last. ie. whole eggs last less than milk and both less than honey powder.

I actually got this because I can take it along and mix it into our water bottles on a camping trip in the morning and have milk with our breakfast (I ordered some breakfast foods from Auguson Farms as well for the trip we're planning). The milk keeps well and the can lasts us several weeks but I've never had it spoil. I will definitely be purchasing more as we need it.

I haven't tried this product as I am using it for storage. Delivery was quick and product was as expected. Will order again.
