I have a child who absolutely loathes wearing sun cream—we’ve tried every trick in the book. So when I came across Solar Buddies, I figured it was worth a shot. I ordered the multipack for my two boys and loved that each applicator came in a different colour—makes it super easy for them to tell theirs apart. I filled them with our usual sun cream and gave it a go. To my surprise (and relief!), my son didn’t mind the application at all. In fact, he’s now keen to apply it himself! I think the issue was the sensation of being touched and the mess of sticky hands—Solar Buddies completely solves that. The sponge provides smooth, even coverage and blends the cream in beautifully. The only minor downside is that it rubs in so well, it’s hard to tell where it’s been applied—so I’m planning to try a coloured sun cream next to make it more visible. Overall, a brilliant product that’s made sun protection far less of a battle in our house!

Brilliant on holiday- easy application of sun lotion and no sticky hands. Kids used it and perfect amount distributed. Especially handy when applying to your face.

This was a life saver on holiday. My 6m son actually found it hilarious when I used this on him to apply suncream so it made topping up through out the day fun rather than stressful. Fab for doing his face too. And don’t forget the bottoms of their feet!! Didn’t leak, easy to top up and we used it too. Handbag size so doesn’t take up too much space.

Nice item easy to fill

So I really liked the idea of these and when we received them the children were super excited to try them. Pros: super easy to apply, spreads in an even layer so no need to rub in, kids love them and want to use them independently. Cons: easy to apply *only* if held upright (which they won’t as you need to apply it horizontally or upside down depending on body part) as the roll-on only works when the cream is running downwards. Need to fill with a lot of sun cream at a time or super annoying to apply as it doesn’t flow so easy. Easy to get sand in the sponge if on the beach. Unless always washing sponge then not happy to use it to apply cream to the face. Not the most efficient use of sunscreen, goes much further when applied by hand. I filled the two containers with cream from a whole bottle of lotion and it ran out after 3 days. Normally a bottle lasts a week. Much was still in the container but no longer rolled on. Just a bit too faffy. So overall my feeling is that these are just not worth the hassle and are too wasteful with the sun cream (which is not cheap these days!). I did like the sponge applicator as it meant my hands stayed clean and application was smooth and even but even so, we won’t be using these again on our next trip.

I bought the Solar Buddies Blue & Green Duo Pack for my kids, and it has made applying sunscreen so much simpler. The rollerball and sponge design spreads sunscreen evenly without messy hands. The applicators are lightweight and easy for little hands to hold, and the BPA-free, anti-bacterial materials are reassuring. The only small issue is that the caps can be a bit tricky to remove when hands are slippery, but otherwise these are fantastic for quick, hygienic, and stress-free sun protection.

Came across these as I have a child with a sensory aversion to applying sunscreen. I must say I was a bit dubious with how they would go as I haven't really found sunscreen rollers the best in the past. I must say that these have been a big hit though. The sponge nicely spreads the sunscreen without any need to actually get any sunscreen on your hands. I'm not too sure how well the sponge will last longevity wise so we'll have to wait and see but a week in and they're going well.

J'ai horreur de passer un temps fou a tartiner les enfants de crème solaire. Ce produit a changer ma vie. Même si je juge ce produit un peu cher, je le recommande les yeux fermés.

Theoretically this makes sense and would be a miraculous product, however I found that the sunscreen leaks out if we ever need to unscrew to refill and there is a good amount of product waste which gets the rest of the bottle messy. For this reason, we will be going back to the old fashion way of hand application.

These are great for kids that hate getting sunscreen rubbed in. They work so well. Best to fill with a thicker sunscreen though.
