Excelente album pero el gatefold...
El gatefold de este album se siente reimpreso y descolorido. A primera vista se ve barato.

WHY WE STILL 'FALL TO PIECES' OVER VELVET REVOLVER 13 YEARS LATER
Any classic rock album like any truly vintage wine should improve with age and become more valuable. But you should know, that when it comes to wine, only 1% of the wine in the entire world is actually meant to be aged.Such is the case with Velvet Revolver and classic rock by comparison. Only 1% are worth revisiting and sound just as fresh when you heard that first song and you danced on fire.13 Years ago Velvet Revolver reinvigorated a genre that was dying on the vine. Who ruled the roost you ask? Kanye West, Usher, Ja Rule, Nelly, Snoop Dogg (you were probably singing "Drop it Like it's Hot"). Velvet Revolver was rock and roll's saving grace in 2004... aside from Green Day's "American Idiot," which would follow later in September. If you went to the movies you probably had seen and were quoting: "Kill Bill Vol. 2," "Anchorman," "Saw," "Shaun of the Dead," or asked for a refund on "The Day After Tomorrow."If Velvet Revolver was not on your radar, it was because of this crazy new social phenomenon called "Facebook." And America was still hunting the evil and elusive Osama Bin Laden.BUT THE BAND PLAYED ON...Out of the ashes emerged Velvet Revolver. "Mad, Bad and Dangerous to know" as once used to describe poet Lord Byron. And with the combined forces of G & R and STP's charismatic and gifted Weiland, well what more could be said... A LOT! STILL A LOT!This was a solid rock album from start to finish. Every track galvanized with the raw, honest sensibilities in an American Idol apocalypse of wannabe soul singers with more melismas (yeah, that annoying thing they all do that you now have a technical word for it) in one song than Mariah Carey sang in one lifetime.Velvet Revolver was dangerous and exhilarating. Rock music was exuberant again, cool and refreshing. You could drink deep that drastic molecular transformation that real aged wine (remember the 1%?) had. These guys were the real deal. Genuine "Rock Stars," not some meaningless catch-all phrase corporate employees use these days when someone aces a presentation or lands a new client.2004 VINTAGEVelvet Revolver is still rare and vintage wine by comparison. 2004 Vintage."Fall to Pieces," "Slither" and even "You Got No Right" has stood the test of time. Attitude... "Some f****n' attitude.." Their music still holds up today.Gone now are the beautiful Scott Weiland, David Bowie and most recently Chris Cornell. Rock is not dead, but it is The Walking Dead, with a few groups still trying to survive in a zombie apocalypse of musicians or fringe and splintered groups.Sorry... we're out of vintage wine right now, just wine coolers. Check back at another time. In the meantime celebrate 13 Great songs from 13 years ago. 13 is lucky.I'll drink to that.

This review highlights the "MusicOnVinyl" LP release of 2014. Great record in '04-great ten years later!
The Velvet Revolver album was a last stand for the rock scene and the folks who populated it from the late 80s all the way up to the early 00's. By the time Contraband came out, most of the groups that sold the gazillions of records from 88-2002 were in the waning stages of their careers, material-wise. GNR, Metallica, STP, Alice in Chains, Pantera, Soundgarden, Megadeth et al. were basically in the greatest hits phase of their respective careers. So when contraband came out in 2004, it was a nice coda to the excellent rock scene that had been evolving for the last 20 years. I think the record is a fine sounding testament to the towns of those guys. With Scott Weiland fronting the group, and Slash, Duff, Matt Sorum and Dave Kushner, you get some of the finest players in the genre creating valid and new material. The Cd came out in '04 so I'm not really reviewing the album, but rather, I'm reviewing the reissue of the LP, specifically the "MusicOnVinyl" release that came out this year, in 2014. "MusicOnVinyl" is an EU company, are therefore, imports, and various record labels license out particular album for them to remaster. They make an excellent product. I'm not a huge fan of the 180G records that come out now, because I find them to be rushed and somewhat inferior. However this particular company makes fine products. On "Contraband" the music is very pleasurable to listen to. The equalization on their record is almost 2nd to none. Their records sound crisp n' clear AND you can hear the various parts of each composition quite clearly. Even the subtle pieces are easily audible. The packaging is excellent and sturdy. One thing I don't like is that the format required that every record has to be broken up into a double album. Which is a pain for people who listen to long players. Other than that, you will get a very very high-quality sound from the music on vinyl records with good solid low frequencies the bass and drums, you can hear all of the intricate guitar part that Slash, Matt and Duff and have woven together. I highly recommend the MusicOnVinyl version. They also make a great copy of Bush's 16 stone, Stone Temple Pilots "Tiny Music" and Alice in-Chains' great EP "Jar of Flies"-all available from MusicOnVinyl. Contraband was a great Record for its time, and sounds just as good in the "new-old" format of wax records. P.S.-God I hate the term vinyl. It is such a "hipster" word. That is how these twentysomethings refer to LPs or wax records. And I'm only 35. But I never called a record"vinyl" growing up.

GUNS ' N' PILOTS
