I have purchased many of these. I own two personally, in different houses. I've given several as gifts. They are superb.If you've owned a glass french press, you know the sorrow of a broken beaker and spoiled pot of coffee (usually at the point of the day at which you are least capable of dealingl with this, before you've had your first cup). You also know that you have to drink your coffee FAST before the pot gets cold. If you haven't owned a glass french press, and are a first-time buyer of a press, I advise that you skip this step.This press mitigates both issues of breakage and temperature. First, stainless steel doesn't smash. Second, the double-walled construction keeps the coffee hot and drinkable much longer. The only way this doesn't exceed a glass press is that the stainless steel does hold on to more of the oil from the coffee, so it takes a tiny bit more effort to clean. Negligible, but looking to provide a balanced perspective.A really attractive feature is the materials used in construction. Lots of french presses have plastic parts on the plunger. This is all stainless. No leaching of plastic components, a particular concern with boiling (or almost) water.I love these things. They've served me well for years. I am actually writing this review because I returned to the listing to order one for my son for Christmas. He's adulting now and requested one to have for his own home. He hates coffee from a coffee maker and can't imagine using a different kind of press than this one.Recommended without reservation. UPDATE: Back to order another for my son's friend. Looking at reviews, I'll offer further information.I have the unpainted option, plain stainless. Obviously, nothing to peel there. I'd recommend that one. If you really want the paint, at least hand wash it. It isn't meant for the dishwasher. Perhaps people complaining about the pot not having insulating properties have made that mistake? Many double-wall construction items are ruined if they go through the dishwasher. This thing is easy to clean, no need to use the dishwasher.The base of the plunger screws onto the handle. If this comes apart, you just screw them back together. I regularly take it apart on purpose, to clear out the grounds that find their way between the screens.

To me, there is nothing like the smell of fresh roasted coffee in the morning as hot water is poured over freshly ground coffee beans.The Veken Double-Wall French Press I recently bought through Amazon is ideal for making incredible REAL coffee. If you have traveled anywhere outside of the U.S., you've discovered real coffee is not supposed to be the weak, flavorless, "see the bottom of the cup" colored liquid we are usually served in our restaurants, diners, and even in most chain "coffee shops".If you want robust, aromatic, great tasting coffee, the magic of a French Press outshines any other coffee-making contraption (even the pour-over funnels or noisy, expensive, disposable plastic cup Mini-Cooper sized brewing monstrosities). Using fresh roasted beans and setting your grinder to produce a course grind, this insulated French Press cannot be beat ... even when compared to other coffee presses at 2x or 4x the price.I believe stainless steel is always preferable to glass or plastic. Since this press is advertised as stainless and is dishwasher safe, what is not to like! (however, it is easy to wipe clean without using any soap).The press is virtually bullet proof, and it keeps the coffee hot for over 1-2 hours (assuming you preheat the carafe before beginning the brew process).Unlike many other presses, this one uses two individual micro-screens to filter out the grinds and fine particles, plus it comes with 2 additional spare screens. I also like the added bonus of having a small icon printed on the top of the insulated lid to help show when the lid is closed to help retain the heat or where the indentation is located to help you pour from the carafe.If you like the taste of French Press coffee, if you like the ability to "dial-in" the strength and consistency of your coffee or tea, and if you want a press that will last for many years, then this is the one you will want to own. And with a little TLC, it should last a lifetime!

9/12/19 - I am updating my review and review he number of stars (to 5) because this French press makes OUTSTANDING coffee! We still have not had an opportunity to test whether the vacuum sealed pot will keep liquid hot for any length of time because we always end up drinking it all, right away. This French press is excellent. We have not had any trouble with grounds or sediment leaking through (although a little is to be expected with this method of making coffee), and have not noticed any oily scent. We love this pot! It is beautifully made and beautiful to look at.9/6/19: (Our first review was 3 stars.). We purchased this french press coffee maker and have used it once. My first thoughts are that it makes an excellent pot of coffee with almost no sediment. The double filter system and the pot as a whole are easy to clean. These qualities were not present in my previous press, so this has already significantly improved my morning coffee experience.heHowever, contrary to the product description the pot did not stay cool to the touch. While it did not become scorching hot, it became too warm to comfortably touch. Does this mean that the vacuum sealed exterior is not properly sealed? We drank the pot right away so I cannot say if it would have stayed hot for any length of time, but my sense is that it would not retain much heat.I am rating 3 stars because the description is misleading.
