2 1/2 quart size
I had mine for 40 years and wanted to replace it exactly. I did get to do that. Only down side was the price but I'm very excited about the replacement. Thank You.

Small but just fine
This is a good deal smaller than the old one I had to replace (my mistake), and it's not made as solidly. But it's lightweight, which is nice, and it does the job nicely. Its copper bottom is just the size of my larger electric burner. After some initial disappointment I got used to having a small kettle, and now after a couple of months it's just my teakettle for the foreseeable future. Other reviews mentioned hot handle--not at all my experience, since I take it off the burner when it whistles. No complaints, really, but if you like to make tea for a crowd, buy a bigger version.

Not the Revere Ware that once was....
Not the Revere Ware of old, that's for sure! It's a bit smaller than expected and the handle can tend to be a tad hot so be very careful. It's such a shame that everything in America is made in China. The craftsmanship just isn't there. The copper around the bottom where it wraps over the top part isn't as good as it could be. But hey, I'm a retired Toolmaker so I spot a lot of things most people wouldn't. I also grew up less than 30 miles from the original Revere Ware location in Rome, New York. Overall, not awful but not great.

So far so good
Permanent Roommate:Wife, the bottom is about to give one your team kettle. Replace it now, or you aren't gonna have tea one morning and then you're gonna cry.Me: (in utter shock and dismay) I can't just replace it! This is the perfect tea kettle. It's older than me!PR: just order the same one. I'm sure they still make it. And you better do it soon because I don't want to hear you when it breaks. So I ordered this... and it wasn't even expensive. Believe me, I scrutinized the heck out of it, to make sure it was an accurate replica. It seems a little lighter than the old one, but that might just be because it hasn't had 30 years of hard water build- up. If it lasts at least 20 years I'll be happy... if not I might be a little traumatized. I'll keep you posted.

Excellent 2-1/3-Qt Whistling Tea Kettle
I've been using Revere whistling tea kettles for forty years, and wouldn't have any other kind. They're easy to pick up, easy to fill, easy to pour from (if you don't overfill them), and have a loud shrill whistle you can hear from anywhere in the house - probably from the basement or attic! It stops instantly when you take it off the heat, though, or you can slip a toothpick across the opening to keep it open, and it won't whistle anymore.I was disappointed that I couldn't find a larger one, but I looked everywhere and couldn't find one. It's okay, though; I think that at my age my wrists might not be able to lift and pour a bigger one anyway.

Yes the handle gets hot on my gas stove and ...not on new glass top stove lasts forever!
Yes the handle gets hot on my gas stove and no the gas isn't flaming around the sides. Strange it didn't do it at first.Update 12/2020: I still own this teapot. I descale the inside with vinegar and keep the outside clean as it sits on my stove, but it has lasted daily use!! I've moved and now have a glass top range. The handle no longer gets hot. The only thing I don't like about this teapot is how hard it is to get water in the spout. I use filtered water from my fridge, but I looked at others and it looks like I'd have the same problem. I like the whistle sound and look how long it's lasted!! Happy!

Quality Control Issues
At one time, Revere put out a quality product. We ordered this Tea Kettle. It arrived, and when we opened it, we were surprised to find the top of the kettle bent in, the cover did not come close to covering the spout and it was impossible to lock to top in the open position. We feel this was not done in shipping because the main handle was not bent, broken or damaged in any way. We feel this was done in manufacturing the tea pot. It was made in China. I was able to take it to my workshop and bend the flat metal strip forward enough to get the top to close flat on the spout and adjust it so that the trigger could lock the cover in the open position. We will live with the bent top and not return the tea pot because it now serves its purpose. We can heat water in it and use it. We feel this should have been noticed when it was manufactured. The package.in which it was shipped was not damaged in any way nor show any signs of abuse.
