Best Bass Strings on the Planet!!
I have been playing Elixir bass strings for well over 16+ years on my 5 string MusicMan and now my 4 string P-Bass. I play a lot of hours, and these don't hurt my hands. They last a long time and sound great! I perform twice a week.

Initial Thoughts .... Excellent - UPDATED
Only been playing bass for three years, changed strings 3 times. Started with the original fenders a year and then switched to Elixirs (brighter) on my Am Special P-Bass. Last time had mediums, this time I tried super light. Interesting that these have more mids than the mediums. Was able to lower the action; had to loosen the truss rod a bit and adjust my EQ (flatter now, the mediums had some boom that I needed to take out using the parametric EQ). Just put them on today, so we will see, but nice feel, sound great and I think I am going to have less left hand stress since I can play lighter. Maybe I will finally get some speed :) They do bend easier, but think I will adjust to that. Update: Got a new bass for my birthday with EMG-X pickups (NS Design Radius) and D'Addario EXL170's. I swapped them out the original strings (still new) for a set of Elixir super-lights. Lost tone. Record before and after (same settings on guitar and amp) and it was obvious that the Elixir's sounded thin. I tried some EQ adjustments and got an ok sound, but just not the same tones I was getting before. I tried a year old set of medium Elixirs; sounded a bit different, but still did not have that thick tone of the original strings. The Radius has an all maple body and graphite re-enforced maple neck, it is also headless, has a piezo in addition to the two active EMG's plus tuners on the bridge (strung upside down); so, completely different beast than the p-bass. Shame, I like the feel of the Elixir super lights. Maybe that the D'Addario's are nickel wrapped vs nickel coated. Anyway, like these on my p-bass, but obvious they are not going to work for everyone.

Simply The Best
I’ve been playing for 50 years, and I’ve tried all the usual suspects in bass strings, but once I got my hands on Elixirs, there was no turning back, because there is literally nothing on the market quite like them. Easy on the fingers, buttery smooth and easy to play, long lasting, and consistent quality from set to set. I prefer the 45-105 (45-130 for my 5-string) nickel plated, although you can get the stainless ones if you want a brighter sound. I use them on all five the basses I use regularly (Sire V10dx, Rickenbacker 4003, Yamaha TRBX605FM 5-string, Fender MIM Deluxe Precision P/J and my 1983 Guild Pilot. I play out pretty much every week, and get great tone and life out of these strings, often going 4-6 months before I change them out. They are so playable, they actually help my play faster and more precisely, across a wide variety of music. If they aren’t using them, I tell my fellow bass players all the time: try them! I wish everything we bought was of this high, consistent quality. If you are a gigging bass player and you’re serious about your gear, they are WELL WORTH the expense. Very highly recommended.

Strings Sound Good
These strings sound extra bass-y, like you get more bass per bass.

Tonic for your stringed instrument
My primary instrument is a Tobias Killer B 4 string bass guitar, I also play electric and acoustic guitars. I've have been playing since 1975. I played professionally for several years, at this time, I only play recreationally. I have used many brands of strings over the years, I had settled on D'Addario XL's but was constantly having to change sets to maintain the desired tone. They'd last for three to four days and were done. A fellow bass player suggested trying a set of Elixirs, but at the time I wasn't playing that often so I had a hard time justifying the extra expense for them. Awhile later I purchased a used Ibanez SR bass. It was five years old and still had the original strings on it. They still sounded great! In fact it was at least four more months before I changed them, only because they were getting a bit fuzzy. So I tried another set having been impressed with their warm balanced tone and exceptional durability. I have tried some other brands coated strings but so far have not found any others I would recommend. None have exhibited the longevity of the Elixirs. In my experience they are lasting about three months and I play at least 1-2 hrs. a day. Yes they are more expensive initially but will save you quite a bit of money in no time. I am not going to write at length about their tone because it is so subjective. I will say I find it to be completely acceptable. Not overly bright but clear and warm. I would characterize it like a just "broken in" tone that just stays there. I also have equipped both my 12 and 6 string acoustics with elixirs and am very satisfied with the tone and again exceptional durability. I use EB Super Slinkys on the electric guitars. I would recommend Elixirs to anyone, pro or novice.

Best strings for my Epiphone Jack Casady Bass
These strings are exactly what i am looking for. Deep round sound, easy on the fingers and just the right amount of tension for my playing style. I was previously impressed with the GHS pressure wounds, which sounded great out of the box, but went dull after only a few weeks of playing time. I read a review on the Elixir's and gave them a try and so glad I did. I would have given them four stars except for the price which is about twice what I usually pay for a set of four.

Elixir Strings did not have coating! Zero communication to resolve issue.
I’ve been using elixir strings since 2011 and never had an issue. This 4 string pack arrived and felt different after a week of use they were completely rusted compared the B string that I got from a different seller. Beware! This seller is selling regular strings priced as Elixir or this one one bad set with a factory and the customer service is so bad that they haven’t responded to multiple messages. Find another seller to deal with!
