Moebius The Forgotten Prisoner of Castlemare Model Kit

Unlike most the other monster model kits first released by Aurora in the 60's thru 70's, the Forgotten Prisoner wasn't based on a particular character, but rather something one might see in the background of a classic horror film: a gnarly skeleton in tattered clothes chained to a castle or dungeon wall. The kit was the combined collaboration between Aurora and Forrest Ackerman's 'Famous Monsters of Filmland' magazine. The Prisoner was re-released a while back by Polar Lights, and now Moebius models, who has aquired the mold. I was pleased Moebius choose to cast the kit in white plastic, which makes it a lot easier to paint the bones than the dark grey of the original. The box is a reproduction of the 'long box' release, complete with the Aurora and Famous Monsters logo and the always cool James Bama artwork. Detailed instructions are included. As others have stated, some of the parts in this kit are quite delicate, particuarly the hands, feet and chains which can be easily broken. Care should be taken as far as handling them, cleaning off excess plastic, and so on. Assembly is also a little tricky as you build the Prisoner then pin him to the wall with small U-rings. The real fun comes in painting and detailing. I've seen build-ups where people have copied the box art literaly with the shades of purple, or painted the wall and clothing to look like the Prisoner is in some dusty dry location than a dank castle. Adding fake spider webs, moss or hair are other ideas. Whatever you choose, the Forgotten Prisoner will be a creepy addition to your shelf of model kits.

I've wanted to check this model out for a long time. It was a blast to put together. There are plenty of little details to paint some nice weathering opportunities. Coming from such an old mould, the flashing was acceptable and everything fit snug. I would suggest, however, that you partially assemble him, and make sure you position his stance correctly before you glue down the knee joints. I had to lengthen the neck chains and leave off the one on the foot, because he was too far away from the wall. He looks fantastic though, you just have to be precise.

Classic Model Kit! Had this model as a kid in the 1960's and had to have it for my collection. Fun to display!

この商品がまさかアマゾンで手に入る時代が来るとは・・・・かつて少年期、この商品を模型屋で見て衝撃を受けました。まわりにある国産プラモとは全く違うモチーフ、その存在感。ただし当時の子供にとってはかなりの高額商品とても購入は無理でした。今回この商品に出会えたことは喜びより他にありません。パッケージを見て夜更けまで楽しむも良しカラカラとパッケージをゆすって、ランナーの少ない音を聞くもよし設計図を見て製作をイメトレするもよし。でも決して作ってはいけません。このプラモは作らない事に意味があるのですから

ホビージャパンプラスという雑誌でオーロラのプラモを見てから、大ファンです。この囚人のプラモは、購入してから作ってはいませんがキットを見る限りでは出来がいいです。パッケージの不気味さがキットにも感じられます。オーロラのプラモは今のプラモにはないレトロなアメリカを感じさせるものです。興味がある方はこの商品や他のポーラライツやメビウスモデルのモンスターキットも購入してみてはいかがでしょうか。
