Simple and effective
Awesome stat that you can manually set the temp differential to up to 3 degrees. Set it to 64 at night and it'll start the heater at 61, then shut it off at 64. We actually use a 2 degree diff for our hot water baseboard heating system. The new Honeywell unit we installed was too sensitive, with no way to adjust the diff, except with the cycle rate, which is supposed to accomplish that goal, but it didn't work. It would start, shut off again after a few seconds. Then start again after a minute or two, then off again after a minute. After about 4 times it would finally allow the heater to remain on for it's 1 degree heat up. Way too much BS for a gas boiler to deal with, not to mention waking us up every time it started and stopped! Our old 'new' Honeywell stat is now a real nice $70 thermometer for down in the garage! We're ordering our second Robertshaw unit for the guest room in the basement and will be piggy-backing the two together so the colder basement room will set the tone of the heating system while guests are visiting. Add in the great price point involved here, and you have a winner!

Replaced Honeywell 6000 Series for 2 stage HP
Works great. Love being able to adjust the differential temperature range and time delay to kick in the second stage heat source. The large and bright display also help. Replaced my old Honeywell TH6220D1002 with this one for the two stage heat pump. Set the dip switch in the Robertshaw to "Heat Pump" and another switch to "Electric". Connected Black wire to C terminal, Red to "RH/R", Green to "G", Orange to "O", Yellow to "Y1", White to "W2", and another Black that was connected to the EM on the Honeywell to "E". Programmed per the instruction on the wizard and everything tested out ok.

Works good
I've had 2 of these I installed in my house so far. They've been in for a year and work good, it's easy to program if you've ever done a thermometer with Monday thru Sunday settings on it.

Really like the backlighting feature and the temp
The stat arrived w/ everything needed for installation minus the tools. It even came with a business card that had contact info. of an actual person if there were questions. I have a background in HVAC so setup was a snap. If you don't have a working familiarity with thermostats then read the setup instructions carefully and you should be okay. It has ran through a cooling and heating season with no problems so far. Really like the backlighting feature and the temp. differential option.

Great Thermostat!
I bought 2 of these thermostats. I usually buy White-Rodgers brand but this time I went with Robertshaw and I love them. Set up was easy and streight forward. I have used Honeywell brand thermostats before and they didn't last a week. I took them both off and returned them. These appear to be made very weel the the 2 of these were less than 1 Robert-Shaw. Shipment to a Chicagoland was only 2 days. Good Vendor and Merchant!

Hello? Anybody home at Robertshaw?
This was a recommended thermostat on an HVAC web blog. However, I haven't had a chance to install it yet. For some reason, the instructions don't deal with the wiring that this unit has. Since I bought this 5 months ago, I have made three email contacts to their "support" to ask very specific questions about what to do. No response. This was to replace a Honeywell thermostat that has a short cycle time (temperature differential) and the compressor runs to much. This Robertshaw was to correct that with an adjustable temperature differential. The HW instructions were clear and their support response was quick and informative. I wired that HW puppy up in about 15 minutes after talking to them. If you aren't a professional installer I'd steer clear of Robertshaw. If this situation changes I will update this post.

Nice but complicated thermostat - confusing diagrams - impatient tech support...
Product: 4-stars... Tech Support: 1 star... Overall: 2 starsSummary: This is a nice but complicated thermostat with one minor problem. Tech support is helpful but impatient - probably because they hear the same questions over and over. The minor problem: The thermostat has a supplied jumper whose legs are thicker than the thermostat wire, so when you try to tighten the terminal, it's internal clamping mechanism is stopped by the thicker jumper and the thermostat wire remains loose - it pulls right out. I took my smallest fork-style crimp connector and cut off one leg and crimped it to my wire. The remaining leg was the full width of the terminal opening and tightened up just fine. I also called tech support to let them know they had a minor design problem and that they needed to find jumpers with legs the full width of the terminal opening to prevent this problem. They didn't seem especially interested - their words were polite but their tone was 'who cares'.Installation: I have been working with electronics for 40 years, but not much with HVAC. I installed my 5110 yesterday. The users manual and installation manual sheets are each road map like 15" x 30" sheets and that's just one language. There are 6 wiring diagrams on 'pages' 7-8, none of them intended to replace my old, simple Honeywell 4-wire thermostat. In fact, they are all 5-wire diagrams showing a common wire that doesn't exist in older Honeywell-style wiring. This common wire must exist if you want full time backlighting (which is nice), or you must run an extra common wire from the 24 volt transformer up to the thermostat location. Conceptually, the old thermostats just switched the 'hot' wire to fan, A/C compressor, and furnace as needed, thus they didn't need the common wire at the thermostat. There are also two slide switches on the inside which must be set to 'Heat pump' or 'Not heat pump' and 'Gas or Electric'. The 5110 is a tiny single-board computer in a thermostat body, so you might want to save your old reliable thermostat, just in case. The 5110 has been working fine so far, and its setpoint differential feature has been preventing my A/C from short cycling - the differential setting determines how far from the setpoint (73 degrees) the temperature has to be to activate the A/C. I choose 1.5 degrees, but it can be as much as 3 degrees in half-degree steps. This is the feature that caused me to buy the 5110, plus the 5-minute minimum A/C compressor off-time.Tech support became quickly impatient with me as I was trying to relate his information to the poorly relevant diagrams. This was my first 5110 installation, and his 10,000th, I'm sure. As soon as I finally understood that the confusion was created by a 5-wire diagram in a 4-wire real-life situation, I said, "I understand," whereupon he abruptly replied, "Have a nice day" and hung up on me. I had had a second question for him. You should also note that tech support is the only contact point for Invensys Controls - they have one of those impenetrable automated phone computer systems - so if you want to relate a marginal experience with tech support to management, good luck!

Easy to install
Easy to install, works great. Batteries included but were dead when they arrived. Once they were replaced the unit was up and running perfectly.
