Special Effects Hair Dye - Blood Red SE#16 includes Bewild Balloon

Love the color! Great coverage, even on grays (not that I HAVE any)... I did find one little spot that I missed but since there is no mixing and you can use your leftovers anytime, I was able to fix it right away. That's a plus. The only reason I didn't give it five stars, is it is BEYOND messy and stains EVERYTHING. I read that in other reviews and thought I was well prepared. I covered everything with an old sheet and was really proud of myself when I couldn't find a stain anywhere afterwards... until the next day. I had washed my hair in the kitchen sink so I could use the sprayer and left the shampoo bottle on the counter over night. Some of the pink water ran down the bottle and left a red ring on the counter. After a LOT of scrubbing (Ajax with bleach), it's barely noticeable now, but be forewarned, even diluted in water it still stains everything. Oh, and my hands have been pink for two days. Wear gloves to wash too!

I've never had a red dye be THIS bright and brilliant while leaving my hair soft and feeling in better condition then it was before I dyed it. I swear by this brand, I've recommended it to everyone I know and will continue to do so. It's the only brand with bright colors that lasts, and makes my hair happy after I torture it with bleach. I LOVE SPECIAL EFFECTS! I did my hair ombre, black to red. When we bleached the ends, it didn't lift a whole lot so they ended up a sort of dark copper with a few lighter areas here and there, but with the brightness of nuclear red it evened it out to a beautiful blood red color which isn't what I was originally going for (I originally wanted a fire truck red) but I ended up loving it even more.

I had been using loreal hilights intense red and red hot and I really just wanted to try this for a touch up when my last color started to wash out. I love the results it's a bright yet dark red. My warning would be it does stain you VERY easily. Some tips would be. Use patolium jelly around your edges. Try your hardest to keep off your skalp. USE GLOVES!! Even when washing it out. And when washing out. To avoid staining your body flip your head upside down to wash out. Use a towl you don't mind staining. And I completely dry my hair to avoid bleeding on my clothes or pillows. Its alot of upkeep having bright red hair but well worth it to me:-) and this got it to the color I've been looking for so I'll continue to use it.

I've been using SE hair dye for many years, and as there are some great tutorial-style reviews here I am going to skip the long explanations. I ordered mine from the amazon seller BeWild, and that is what I'll be reviewing.The dye was shipped in a bubble mailer. Inside the mailer, the cap was securely taped and was inside a sealed plastic bag and wrapped in newsprint. I appreciated those extra touches as I have had dye burst in the mail before; it's a miserable experience. The dye looks fresh and mixed well when I shook it, so I can be reasonably sure that this hasn't been sitting in some warehouse for a long time.The item was supposed to arrive by 1/25 and was at my door 1/18. I'd call that speedy shipping. :)

I have colored my hair with such extreme colors before and never had it wash out as fast. My natural hair is really light and I have never had to bleach it so I didn't with this dye. It was really nice and bright for 2 days. Then it was completely off my roots and the rest of my hair was incredibly faded. I left it on for over an hour to set. Based on mess made and time consumption I wouldn't use it again.

At first it was a deep deep red, then after the first wash (the one to get the dye out) it turned into a very bright pink. After the second wash, it was fading out of my hair in totally random spots, not even consistent on the same strand of hair, and turned a really ugly pale pink. For the record I had a light blonde/rose gold colored hair. By the 3rd wash i was wearing a hat. One week after I had used the product, i bought a box from the store for $8 to fix my hair to look half way decent (over a week in and still looks great). Sad i bought 2 bottles of it, and only used half of one. Really had high hopes!

If you lighten your hair or bleach it, BEST RED EVER! Starts off a little dark but lightens up really well. I take care of my hair, no hot water, wash it ever other day, and i dont use product in my hair (hairspray/gel etc). Lasts over month before i need to touch it up. Now that i use WEN, i didnt have to touch it up for a few months. Product received fast too. w/in a week.

Took well to my hair, gave the results I expected. Because I did not bleach beforehand, it turned my hair a gorgeous dark red. Be sure to wear gloves when rinsing it out of your hair - I didn't and one of my hands turned hot pink. Has also faded nicely. I was recommended this product by and friend and would definitely pass along that recommendation.
