I bought these to try on a Christmas tree outside, suspecting that they would only run for a short time; and I was right. As lights they are great - bright enough, and sparkly, but they only ran for an hour or two. It's a great pity that lights like this are not standardised to work either on a solar source or a mains adapter - from a common voltage. As an electronics engineer I know that this is not so difficult to do, and it would save yet more junk being thrown away. Solar panels on lights have plastic covers that turn milky after a couple of years of sun exposure, and so get thrown away. If they were simply designed to last, with glass, they could last 25 yrs or more like the large solar panels. Other options, using large rechargeable batteries or larger panels could also be an option for use where mains is not available. I will probably modify them to such a system.

I ordered two sets , one was longer than the other . They are not remote control so I ignored that question . They are ok , not the brightest and the covers are glass .. I expected plastic .
