It appears perfect.
Today I received a refurbished Kindle Oasis as my previous one no longer worked. I loved my old Oasis bought in 2017. And now I've bought a refurbished Oasis described as good with cosmetic damage, well I see no damage, to me it appears perfect, it was simple to set up. I am so sad the superb Oasis is discontinued, it to me was simply the best!! Glad to have this refurbished one which looks brand new. Only hope it lasts at least a couple of years. Thank you Amazon for this perfect looking Refurbished Kindle Oasis. Just wish I could have purchased a new one. I especially like the buttons to turn over pages. I do have another 2 kindle readers but for me Oasis is best.

Convenient, light, small. Has replaced my books.
Finally got one!! Chose the 32gb version, reviews will say that 16gb is sufficient but so I never have to worry, can download and keep magazines/audio books if I start to use those and for future proofing I went for the 32gb. Still a novelty but Iโm definitely reading more. 99p books are great!! Iโve read books I normally wouldnโt if Iโd had to pay ยฃ10 for them. Screen is very clear. Itโs January so havenโt had chance to try it in bright sunshine yet and will be interested to see how it copes on holiday later in the year. Small enough to take walking and camping and is a little heavier than I was expecting but I guess thatโs the battery which even after a week of solid reading hadnโt dropped below 50%. It would easily last for a holiday but the chargers can be found anywhere so Iโd not bother packing one. I bought the Amazon case, a little expensive but very well made and should protect the Kindle from damage. Iโd expect it to last a few years. The case adds a bit of weight and makes the whole thing slightly bulkier. Indoors if reading for a while I take the case off as it makes the Kindle lighter and easier to hold for a long time. Even with the case itโs lighter and smaller than most paperbacks. Iโm sold on it and will slowly give away the storage boxes full of books in the loft and if I can buy those books cheaply enough Iโll replace them with Kindle versions. Yes, Iโm tied in to Amazonโs format and giving more pennies to the massive company but Iโve never had any issues with them (no I donโt work for them or any related company) and the choice of books is amazing. I like that all my purchases are recorded and cloud based so if I ever lost or damaged the kindle my books are still there (canโt do that with a paper one!!). I know some like to hold a paper book (and I still have a few I never read) but all my 4 storage boxes full and every future book Iโll ever buy can fit on this tiny device. Iโll give up the feel of a book (and save a few trees) for that benefit of carrying my books with me and not taking up room and weight in my luggage. Not all positive though. A slight (and itโs only a slight niggle) is the scrolling. Where some of the menus or book description needs to scroll, the scrolling process is clunky. Weโre used to iphone smooth scrolling so this feels unresponsive. I know however, itโs the way the screen refreshes and thatโs what gives the battery life so as I say, itโs the smallest of minor niggles. Page turning is absolutely fine so for 99% of the time it works perfectly. Itโs quite expensive. Yes, if i worked out how much 50 books (probably 3 years reading for me) cost compared to 50 kindle books AND the cost of the kindle which isnโt cheap, it would be cheaper sticking with paper. But. Iโd miss the convenience, portability, ease of use and the ability to download a book right there and then to read. (For instance Iโve just finished one book which has a second follow on story, with a paper book Iโd be waiting a few days for delivery / time to find a store with it in stock or on holiday Iโd have to wait until I got home. However, with the kindle I had the second book downloaded within 2 mins of finishing the first. Ideal if you really enjoyed a book / author and fancy another). I can also now have a few books on the go without having to carry them all with me everywhere. I always wondered how folk can read more than one at once but with a couple of different types of book, Iโm enjoying taking a break and dipping between them both). Would I recommend or buy again? You should guess from the review that the answer is yes. (And that I rarely write more than one sentence in my few reviews). If you have the money, get one. You wonโt regret it and youโll read more and more varied books. If I lost / damaged mine, Iโd buy another the same day.

Amazon I will never forgive you for discontinuing the Kindle Oasis
The only way the Kindle Oasis could have been more perfect is if the charge was USB-C instead of micro-USB. I genuinely donโt know what Iโll do when mine finally gives up the ghost because thereโs just not a current model thatโs comparable in quality. Iโve had other Kindles, even recently, and nothing even comes close to the Oasis. The metal body makes it so sturdy, its sleek and comfortable especially with the thicker area to hold, being able to change with button goes back and forward, even HAVING page turn buttons. Letโs be honest, the current โluxuryโ Kindle model, the Scribe, wasnโt designed for readers. Itโs a half-hearted copy of the Remarkable tablet at a much cheaper price. The Coloursoft is just a weird concept all around, if you need colour then youโre probably looking at images like graphic novels maybe? In which case youโd get better quality on a regular tablet. Colour and eink just donโt need to be combined. Iโve literally never spared a thought for the fact the book cover is in black and white. If youโre a big reader and itโs part of your everyday life then youโll (or you would have?) loved the Oasis. I still hope Amazon will rethink removing the only Kindle built for people with a real passion for reading, but it looks like theyโre falling into the trap of trying to make the Kindle offer extras above and beyond reading that most people wonโt ever use. As a side note I have a disability that affects my muscles and nerves, not having any physical buttons makes it very painful for me to read given how often I do. So the Oasis is perfect because you can use the touchscreen or the buttons. And the weighted side helps to anchor it in my hand so I drop it a lot less than others Iโve tried. I just want a Kindle thatโs a beautifully made e-reader and not a hunk of plastic that feels like a kids toy with a bunch of โfeaturesโ that donโt enhance the reading experience at all.

Really pleased, excellent reader!
I procrastinated... .a lot, this is an expensive reader. I really liked my Kindle Voyage but it had become tired of it, the indexing had failed and it no longer received any purchases unless I went to my account and prompted it three or four times for each book before a delivery was made! Also, the blue light mad my eyes sore at night and recharge times were very erratic... ... I have not for a minute regretted the purchase of the Kindle Oasis. The buttons and touch screen are very responsive, the backlight and warm light are great especially in the evening. The indexing is sublime and quick, I receive new books immediately after the purchase without having to chase through the system. The battery seems, for many, to be a contentious issue and it was for me because I read for long periods. I didn't need to worry, the battery as for the Kindle Voyage has a good life span between charges. Recharging times are very quick. In all, I think that I made the correct decision to splash out. To protect the investment, I purchased a red leather Merlot cover... .which brings me to my last point. The Oasis is easy to hold without the cover and can be held left or right handed. The cover is quite thick and makes holding the whole thing feel slightly bulky but still easy to hold. A point about the cover: some have said that it feels as if the cover is flimsy, I don't share that experience. The only downside is that the cover doesn't articulate so that it is its own stand [as the one on my Kindle Voyage did. So pleased I bought it... .now, if you will excuse me I have a book that requires my immediate attention and my verbal prolixity must stop!

A bit too expensive?
I wanted an E-reader as reading on my tablet was not getting me anywhere in the evening. I would always end up browsing the internet. I chose the Kindle Oasis as I like its shape with the small bezel around. I chose the 32GB as I have loads of books, and for this I have paid a premium price. I have now had the Kindle just over 2 months. The Kindle itself was a bit smaller than I expected. This makes it really light and comfortable to hold. On my days off I spent countless hours reading with no strain in my hands or wrists. The screen is adapts the surrounding light for optimal reading and less eye fatigue. It is also very responsive for an E-reader. Touch the sides and you turn the page. Pinch the screen and you increase/decrease the font size. Touch the top and the main menu comes on. Very easy to use. Battery life is not bad, it is very difficult for me to judge as I sometimes read an hour the next day I may read 5 hours. I have a couple of long usb cables so there are times when I will read while the Kindle is charging. Finally I have to say I have not tested its water resistance. I try to look after my equipment a lot and submerging in water even though water proof is not something I am willing to do. Although I am very happy with my Kindle I have to say I still think its overpriced for what you are getting. Hence 4 stars. If Amazon would include a decent real leather case and a charger then maybe yes it would be worth the money but right now its not.

Finally!
Okay, I'm a huge kindle fan. That's no secret. I started with the kindle keyboard and have owned a couple of each of the voyage, paperwhite, along with the basic kindle. I bought an oasis first generation, but never received it (my daughter ended up with it when I moved to the UK before I received it in the US). I finally got tired of waiting for the first generation to make its way to me and purchased a 2nd generation oasis last year. I kept it for a week and really wanted to love it, but I kinda hated it. I found it slow to respond and the lighting wasn't as crisp on it as it was on my voyage. I ended up sending it back. I found the battery life to be awful. It didn't even last 4 days before I had to recharge. I just found it way overpriced for something I did't enjoy reading on. I went back to my voyage and sent that oasis back. I can't lie. I am the type of person that just spends way too much time stressing over not having the latest generation of kindle! I thought I would give this newest one a chance. After all, I knew I could send it back if I hated it...I also believe that Bezos and others actually listen to us when we tell them what our issues are with products. If they didn't fix the oasis, no one would be willing to pay that money for it, the previous issues had to be addressed. So I bit the bullet and saved my pennies and purchased this new one. I have to say, after downloading books and setting up probably a dozen kindles (for kids, co-workers, in-laws, husbands, and myself) this is the easiest and fasted kindle I've ever set up. Downloading was super quick (and I kid you not, I have thousands of books on my account and computer). There was no lagging whilst scrolling the cloud and having dozens of books download at the same time. This has always been an issue for me in the past. There was no indexing issues (I actually had to send back 3 paperwhites when they came out because they would not index due to my large library, a little known software issue that didn't effect all kindles, but obviously I was unlucky, my battery would run out within a day). There is no issue with page turns or accessing my home pages on this thing, even whilst downloading multiple books. It works lightening fast and I have to say I absolutely love this thing. It's hands down my favourite yet. I never thought I could say that about another kindle as I love my voyage(s). I waited a week to post this as I wanted to make sure I gave not only an honest review, but an accurate one as well. This warm lighting...wow....but first, let me say, the lighting on this oasis and my voyage(s) is still different. I think this oasis is closer than the one I sent back last year, however, it too, is still nowhere near as bright as my voyage(s). However, I am getting used to this. It's time to admit to everyone that I am not as young as I used to be. When I read at night, my eyes burn and water like mad. It used to mean that I only read about 10 minutes at night before I just gave up and turned off my kindle. I honestly had no idea that this warm lighting would completely change my reading experience at night. I guess maybe I'm clueless because I honestly had no idea that the backlighting would be the cause of my burning/watering eyes. Now I know. The problem has completely disappeared now with me just turning up the warm lighting to about 6. I am now able to read at night with no issues. It was an unexpected surprise and one that I would gladly pay for all over again in the price of the kindle. Until I had this warm lighting I just didn't realise how much I was missing the enjoyment of reading at night. There is one thing I can fault. It's not all good news here...my oasis does not wake up. I don't believe it's the case (which I love, I have the Atotu fabric case which sits flush with the back making it flat. I've tried to wake it up using a different case that I know worked with the previous oasis generation. I just think it's my kindle. However, even though I find this super annoying, I can't knock it down even one star, because I am so pleased with this kindle in every other way. At the end of the day, having to push the on button to wake it isn't really the end of the world...annoying yes, dealbreaker no. I still think it's rather expensive (this is like a week and a half's pay for me!!!). Having said that, it's my form of enjoyment. I don't really go out much for meals, I don't smoke, I don't collect Pokรฉmon or anything like that...so this is it...I read...and this device makes reading a joy for me... I'm not having any issues with the battery life. Honestly I've only had to charge it once and that's with me having downloaded hundreds of books. I am not regretting a single pence I spent on this oasis and I hope I have it for years to come.

Beautiful and practical e reader, made reading easier
So i've debated getting an e-reader for a few years now but wasnt bowled over by my daughter's paperwhite although she loved it. Having a massed a huge amount of paperbacks, i took the plunge but i did want the best out there so i bought the oasis. I absolutely love it! I was usually a bedtime reader but having to balance nightlights and paperbacks i wanted something easier to handle and to cut down on my book collection. This fits the bill perfectly and with the inbuilt amber light it makes reading a dream at night without the use of a bedside light and can even read under the covers. The font size is adjustable and having not got the best eyesight this was a game changer for me and no more strained eyes. Its easy to hold with the step bit at the back and already read 2 books when i would have only usually read about one. I just wish i'd bought this sooner, so if you are debating like i was don't hesitate. Great for the train too when we are allowed to travel again and charge lasts for ages. Easy buttons to turn pages instead of swiping the screen although you have both options. Great bookmark too so you don't lose your place. I couldn't recommend this little gem enough! It also looks great in gold. Love it! UPDATE 3 years and 8 months on i am updating my review. The kindle Oasis still remains at 5 stars! I have read hundreds of books since, well in excess of 200 anyway and continuing to enjoy it, mainly at night for night reading, but used around 3 hours at least day/night. I would however recommend that you buy a kindle case that is authentic and will put your kindle to sleep as soon as you close the cover, i made the mistake of not getting one, but i have since and shortly after, purchased the premium leather case and i love it. I would not hesitate to recommend the kindle oasis, beautiful, practical, battery life remains excellent and has enabled me to read far more books having taken stock of my actual books, paper and hardbavk, far too many, that have since been donated to charity. I just wanted to let everyone know that the oasis is built to last, hopefully it'll stay that way. It does cost quite a lot in terms of outlay, but so worth it in my view. I could never have read and enjoyed so many books without it!
