Best Gas Mask Design Thus Far
I purchased the XM50 to replace my very buky M40 Mask. Originally I was looking at purchasing the MCU (Mickey) mask until I read about the new M50 Mask. With the best of both worlds (filtration & vision) it was love at first site. After I received my M50 Mask I had to try it on -- this is the most comfortable mask I have ever tried on, very comfortable rubber, perfect fit, well balanced, and very managable being so sleek and slender.Comparing this mask to the best industrial masks on the market, the M50 Mask is superior in every way with the quick change filters, drinking assembly, optional amber, smoke, and laser eye shields. And even though the eye opening looks smaller on the M50 compared to the aftermarked industrial masks and even the Mickey, there is no change in your site picture because you can't see out of your mouth anyway.The mask was expensive compared to some others on the market but they did not have the options that this mask has or did not have everything I wanted all in one package. With other masks I was either sacrificing either colored eye peices and drinking tube for visability and comfort or comfort and visability for drinking tube and colored eye peices.After I purchased my M50 Mask which came with the standard items included (mask, filters, carry bag, clear eye shield) I decided to order the rest of what I wanted to make it a complete package. I ordered two extra sets of filters, one to go in my carry bag and one to go in my assult pack. I also orered the amber lense for low light conditions, the smoke lense for high light conditions, and the laser lense for using a target illuminator.I look at it this way -- It was an Investment...

Never submerge this mask in water with bleach or bleach because then you need to replace all of the rubber valve disks inside of the mask, unless you enjoy breathing in bleach-74d CBRN soldier

XM50 JSPGM
This mask was the one I was issued during basic training. It works perfectly, it's easy to use and fit to your head, it's easy to see our of, it's light, it has a straw for canteen use, and even has a microphone adapter. It's easy to clean, too. Simply submerge it in water, then a water/bleach mixture, and then back in the water to rinse it off. I loved this mask, and I hope I'll be able to purchase it again.
