Classic Wool Donkey Jacket

I was a bit nervous buying the jacket as was unsure on the sizing but I orded the xxxl and it fit perfectly and I'm a 48-50 inch chest, the jacket delivered foes say xxl in side and the label and outer packaging says xxxlAs for the quality, I was also nervous but I was surprised as the quality is great. It's still quiet thinner than I thought it would be but it is very warm and well made.The only downside is all the buttons needed resewing as were all coming off.

Really nice jacket.I read reviews that said it was a bit thin and more of a fashion item than a really thick, warm workman's jacket (like the originals were) and this is true. The originals were very hard-wearing, very warm, very heavy and very bulky. This jacket is lighter. It's still thick enough to keep me warm enough on most days but it is also light enough (and, as a result, less bulky) for me to wear as a good-looking general purpose jacket.It's not so thin that it looks bad or anything, but it is thinner than the original council-issue-type jackets of old.

I usually buy xxl clothes which can be a litttle loose on me. Here I purchased the xxxl and it fitted me perfectly around the chest however these aren't meant for anyone with a pot belly as they are more a straight fit. Fortunately I've been on a diet for several weeks or it would have been tight around the waist area and not look very good at all. It still does not look good on me around the waist area but I'm continuing my diet and another month I feel will be better. Certainly made for a less rotund shape. They've also got these silly little flaps with buttons over the pockets which were never on mine 35+ years ago, so I got a sharp pointy scissors and carefully cut the stitching and removed them. If you're careful not to try and tear the pockets away, it leaves only a small smoother line of material that I'm sure will roughen out over time. Looks much better now. The photo in the ad shows the arms covering the pockets so hides another little oddity and that's the small side pockets that are build into the actual pockets but really these are hardly noticeable and quite a useful feature. The shoulder covers don't look plastic at all and have a nice leathery look and the wool material looks similar to how I remember. A couple of the lower buttons weren't aligned with the holes and I've had to remove them and realign as the material didn't hang quite right (call me fussy but it looks a lot better now). The package arrived well packed but this does leave some sharp creases in the material which I'm sure will smooth out over time or maybe you can steam iron out on a wool setting,al though I'm not sure as it does say dry clean only on the label, presumably only because the wool will shrink against the shoulder covers. Delivery was very fast and I am overall pleased with the look after my titivations. Wish they wouldn't try and modernise traditional stuff though and there are no places that seem to sell these on the high street, no army surplus, army and navy around this neck of the woods any more where I bought my original one 'donkeys' years ago.

Real authentic wool donkey jacket. Many people have commented on it when out and about. For a real wool coat it's brilliant and great value.

This is a lovely jacket, true to the original and very warm. The only issue with it is the buttons !!! Barely stitched on and the first night I wore it out, three buttons fell straight off with the other two barely hanging on by a thread !! Not good when you’re spending nearly 80 quid for a coat !!!!

My husband loves a donkey jacket. Would have preferred one without the plastic shoulder covering but they’re not easy to find at such a good price.

Lovely coat but the size are incorrect I take a medium in everything in clothing this fits but to do the buttons up it’s uncomfortable so I’m sending it back and replacing it with a large

Got this for my dad for Christmas. I made him try it on (with his eyes closed) fits him so well. He looks so smart bet just like he did in the 60’s. I know it’s not the original one but looks just as good.
