Can't even send notifications to report power status
I was looking for a smart home plug to replace my second WeMo Insight that died (that's the second one in two years, so caveat emptor: WeMo Insights have a really short lifespan), and this one seemed like it might do the trick.Installation and set up in the app was quick and easy. It was also quick and easy to see that the only way you could find any information about power usage was to open the Satechi app. It doesn't even report in use/not in use status with Apple HomeKit the way the WeMo Insight does. So it's obviously possible to have that functionality, but that might actually take some programming that goes above and beyond checking a feature list item. Why is it useful to know whether the switch is in use/not in use (which is not the same as on/off, it's more like, drawing power/not drawing power). It's useful for reporting when appliances that are doing stuff for you have completed their chore. Like the clothes drier for example. Using the WeMo Insight, when the clothes drier completed its cycle, the WeMo app would send me a notification that the switch was no longer in use (not drawing power), so I knew the load had finished. Likewise, the Insight and the WeMo switches are supported on IFTTT, so I could run some automation integration with HomeKit, like playing a "drier finished" tone on my HomePods to alert me to the fact that the drier had stopped. It's too bad. The Satechi switch seems really well built, and heavy duty enough to last. But as often happens with hardware companies, they fail to recognize the potential value of taking the software to the next level of functionality. In their rush to get a well built hardware product into the world and start making sales, they deliver something run by software that's not truly useful to their target market. Then they end up having to turn that sale into a refund.

Disappointed
purchased this item and had hopes it would be easy set up - however upon plugging in and attempting to connect to my wifi the homekit app stated that it could not connect to my wifi network. I use an apple router so was confused by this. I was very disappointed in this and so am returning the product.

Works well for me - easy to set up
I've used this device for three days. This product was just as I had hoped for, with regard to two individually operated outlets. It doesn't cover the other outlet, as other reviewers have pointed out. I downloaded the Satechi app from Apple for installation (iOS for iPad). Set up was very easy. The device was running in 4-5 minutes. The instructions mention to turn off 5GB wifi on one's router before installing, which I did. After installation was completed, Siri commands work as expected. My only question is for the company: How do I update the firmware? I found the "details" button for the device, which shows the firmware as v. 3.3.6. But how do I know that this is the latest version? I can't find an update button on the app to confirm.I'm happy with the product.

One failed LED and no energy consumption (hopefully temporary)
I got two units. The relays in both work fine and the the response time is very fast. The build quality is fairly good except that one LED was dead out of the box, and that is probably the easiest part of the entire device to get right, so my confidence isn’t very high.I’m less happy about the software. The core feature of toggling the sockets works. The energy consumption seems to barely work at all. Probably software kinks that have yet to be worked out.Either one of these issues on their own and I would probably feel better about the product, but combined, and given that these things handle household mains power.. kinda freaks me out. I think I might just cut into the defective one to see why the LED doesn’t work.

Good functionality in a bulky package
Does what its supposed to. Setup was crazy easy: download app, point camera at QR code, name it. Thats it! Seemed to inherit all necessary wifi info from my iPhone. Haven't touched Satechi app since; showed up in the Home app automatically and reliably responds to Siri commands.Cons:(1) Bulky design extends from wall about as far as a 30 W apple charger, and is as wide as a standard outlet plate is tall. ...in two years, this will probably look like a relic, but it does its job today.(2) Makes a seriously loud click when toggling outlet power on/off. Perhaps thats a sign of a sturdy relay inside, but certainly detracts from the futuristic function of the device. That said, with active coupon for 25% off the current price ($59...same as the "pre-order deal" I got on the first one :-/ ) I might just get another for the office.

Hesitate to recommend...
12/27/19 I do not recommend this product. Trying to set up and both the HomeKit app and the Satechi app pop up with a message telling me I have to use WiFi or cellular data to add the product. Triple checked that I have data for both apps turned on and also checked that data is working. Still get that message. Beyond frustrated. (If the company wants to put out a quality product and works to have quality customer service, I will update if this fix the issue) Will return this product if the issue is not resolved.Edit on 1/1/2020: I purchased a new iPad and was able to get the outlet to work on this device, thank goodness as I did not want to return this product. I raised my rating from one star to three stars. My reasoning behind this rating, the outlet does not work on my iPhone X at all. If I had known this I may have gone with another product. The company needs to specify which devices this product work with and if WiFi is the only option, that this product will not work at all on cell data. I double checked and did not see any reference to not working on data.

Reliability is Terrible
This device regularly loses network connectivity...despite being three feet away from the WiFi access point. No network connectivity equals no Homekit connectivity, of course. So, what this means is that the ~$60 USD spent on this is not money well spent--it's no different than having an outlet extender.I've had this device for months, and had hoped there would be a firmware update to solve this. Alas, nothing. This not only speaks to this device, it speaks to the brand as well.

Durable reliable and can continuously deliver 15amps
There are so many reviews on smart plugs noting they can't deliver continuous higher voltage safely, without melting. I can say this smart plug is durable and can deliver. I have a 1200W pond de-icer and a 250W submersible heater plugged into this. They cycle on and off as needed. I have had no issues with this whatsoever. I even have it outside protected from moisture but not temperature. It works under very cold temperatures. It tracks electricity usage very well. The interface could be more polished but it does the job. I like knowing the usage so I can prevent a huge electric bill if desired. I also haven't had any issues with wifi connectivity. My one request would be to have the ability to integrate with Google Home. I highly recommend this product. It's a workhorse. You don't need this for lights or other light duty electricity requirements but for higher power items, it works very well and money well spent.

Almost perfect - the LED's are too bright!
As an outlet - a smart outlet - this is an amazing product. It's incredibly high quality, incredibly easy to use, and it works - and works well. Each output has a physical power button to control it (can turn on/off) or you can use your Apple device to control this as well - you just need to set it up to be recognized as a known device. The product is expensive but it's a quality outlet - and for that I have to give this company credit where it's due. You can tell this isn't a cheap product that cost them nothing to make. The only drawback I have here is the LED lights! I have this beside my bed, and the lights are so bright that they light up the whole room. I'm not sure if this can be controlled (I can't find an option to disable the LED) but it doesn't work for me in a dark room. I always have to throw something over this at night to block the light - maybe some electrical tape would be my best bet here.Either way, excellent product but in a future version I'd like to see the LED's either under the plug, or disabled completely.

Outstanding Customer Service, Great Product
When my outlet arrived it didn’t work. I was dreading the return/exchange process since I have had bad experiences with other companies. I have to say though that I had the best customer experience I have ever had. I had a gentleman named Alex help me, and moments after submitting a work ticket he had replied and talked me through the troubleshooting steps. Once we determined I had a faulty product (which is bound to happen every once in a while), he sent me out a new product which arrived the next day. If you have any concerns about tech support, rest assured that my experience was great. The new product works very well. I like that it is wifi and not Bluetooth since my house is large and Bluetooth doesn’t have the range that I need. I think this product is the best designed one out there for the Apple ecosystem. It’s nice that I can still use the other plug in the outlet and it isn’t bulky and looks good where I have it plugged in.

Drops wifi connection frequently
Using it with Apple HomeKit and it’s very disappointing. Drops wi-fi connection every few days and won’t respond until it’s unplugged and plugged back in. Using it to automate lights with no switch in a bedroom and losing connection a couple times a week defeats the whole point.Tried their associated app and it’s still the same. App hasn’t been updated in over 10 months and there are no firmware updates to fix the connection issues. Don’t waste your money.
