Getting the to transition to a well made pellet or flake can be hard. I have lost very nice fish using the starving method to get them to give into eating pellets. Hikari Vibra bites have always been VERY successful. In my opinion the perfect food for young carnivore/ predatory cichlids. And they will grow very FAST and LARGE with Hikari Vibra bites. I have used broken up Hikari Carnivore and Massivore Pellets in the past. Vibra bites is a better choice and when these cichlids get bigger trasitioning them with those bigger pellets is easy. I have grown HUGE cichlids starting them on Vibra bites which they all aggressively love until they outgrow the size of the worm like food. The common African Jewels love them. I also have grown their bigger cousins also. My favorite cichlids is Hemichromis. But I also have a small population of bladder snails for him to feed on when he feels like it to keep him beak trimmed.
