Heck of a watch!
I got this a few days back. Had ordered with some trepidation because despite all the reading about Orient, the price was too good to be true. Automatic with a new movement, sapphire, certified diver, stainless steel band and so on.It arrived and the package weighed a ton. Oh gawd, I thought, this thing is going to elongate my left arm a couple feet.Well, I need not have worried. Inside the shipping box was the compete Orient package. Its like the box Tissots come in. There is a outer box, which slides off to reveal another box with a front that folds down, and its all very black and solid and heavy. Then this watch appears, resting nonchalantly on a fancy black pillow.I picked it up, slipped it off the pillow, and it was not so heavy after all. The rest of the box within a box really added up.Couple shakes got it ticking, then I set it to US standard time, wound it till the power meter maxed out, adjusted the links, and have been enjoying it since. Have not needed to wind it again, wrist movements seem to keep it wound up.Looks very nice - finally, as good as the advertising - and seems to be keeping good time,Would I buy it again if I broke this one- absolutely. Will report more in a month or two to see how it holds up.Edit, Aug 25. Lost 7 seconds in 5 days, timed on time dot gov. Very good!I also let it sit for about 20 hours without winding, the power meter dropped by a third. Put it back on, and the meter is now back at max power, with no additional manual winding. Looks like a good automatic winder too.Edit 29 Oct: Still keeping good time. Loses about 7-10 seconds a day now, so I just set it a few minutes ahead and adjust every couple weeks or so.The winder is incredible, though. This has become my night wear watch due to the glow-in-the dark thing, and despite minimal arm movements, the power reserve indicator barely drops. I need to leave it sitting still on the table to see it drop - which tells me it is still working.Edit Dec 21 2013: Have been using it all these months as my night watch, and did not bother to check accuracy since I had set it four or five minutes fast. Decided to do a test against a atomic watch which synchs every night with the Colorado time signal. It's lost 2 seconds in 2 days. Watch has been used as it was delivered out of the box, no additional adjustments. Quite remarkable. Calculated accuracy is 99.9988% accurate. Wonder if it has passed the break-in period, getting more and more accurate over time, or what.Or maybe I got lucky and got a really good movement. We'll see.Still pleased.

Stem broke within 6 months
I have 5 watches I rotate through regularly. Today I tried to correct the time on this watch and found the stem mechanism (for changing time and date) was inoperable. This was an expensive watch and this makes the watch useless to me.

Great Watch, BUT beware of who you purchase it from!
I LOVE THIS WATCH. BUT I did not like purchasing it from Island Jewellers. This watch was sold to me as new but the Island Jewellers watch had one missing link in the watch band, a missing sleeve clip, a loose pin, and one of the links had been placed in the wrong location. I fixed all of that since I had a few spare parts at home from another watch purchase, but receiving an item that was advertised as new, but had items missing and scratches around the pin holes indicating someone had already tried to adjust the band and therefore this watch was used, is not my idea of NEW. BUYER BEWARE of ISLAND JEWELLERS. July 18, 2013:NEW COMMENTS - I got an email from AMAZON telling me that the watch had been shipped from AMAZON, not ISLAND JEWELLERS, so in fairness to them, I am setting this record as straight as I can. I believe, this watch was returned to AMAZON and AMAZON did not check it before shipping it out as NEW, so it arrived in USED condition with the above issues. If the item is no longer new, it should not be advertised and sold as new even if there is a so called "warranty". I am not happy that AMAZON would sell used items as NEW, albeit barely used with parts missing. When I responded to AMAZON's email to me regarding this matter and pointed this out to AMAZON, I never received a reply, so I am very suspect of the way returns are handled.I have also purchased the RED face model. Both of these watches are well made, and have bright luminescent dials during the dark. They self-wind as well as manually wind with a limiter so it won't overwind. This watch is heavy, but after a while I don't even realize that I am wearing it, and I like the substantial heft to it. I have about 6 Orient watches and find that this model is the most accurate of all of the Orient watches that I have acquired. When manually winding, it may be easy to think that you have screwed the stem back on correctly, but the indicator redline must be inside of the red arrow for it to be correctly locked, otherwise water might get in. When manually winding it, it will get harder to wind towards the end and then lock the stem by reverse turning the stem a small amount, then twist to lock. It needs to be tight so that you cannot move it further, then you can be confident that it is locked. Be very careful with this. Otherwise I love this watch! The stem is away from my hand so it doesn't cause a callous to form where my old watch used to rub when flexing my wrist.

This is a Beast, a very distinctive beast of high quality with the latest Orient automatic movement
Just got this watch. It is solid, good looking and built with quality. The bezel rotates firmly but without too much pressure. The sapphire crystal is nice. The shipper is located in Singapore but the package arrived to my home in the U.S. in less than a week (even though the original estimate was 4 - 6 weeks). I find the bracelet to be of good quality as well. Considering the price and that this is an ISO certified diver's watch I'm not sure how you beat it for the value if you want a big sturdy diver's watch. It is not a classic design, rather it has it's own style with some red accents, nice lume and lefty placed crown (so it does not dig into your wrist with this large size watch body). So if you want a large distinctive high quality diving watch at a very reasonable price I cannot think of a better one. Of course Orient is well respected for long lasting durable automatic movements and this watch has their best and their latest designed movement included.

I call this the "Commercial Diver."
I really liked this watch when I first opened the box, but then I put it on. I'm not a diver and didn't realize the weight (230 gms) and real size I'd be wearing on my wrist, but I'm getting used to it. It won't be a daily wearer like I'd planned, as it's just too bulky and chunky looking, I'll wear it most of the time I'm not at work though, and it is very well made. The movement is fantastic, and if the watch ever got torn up, which is pretty unlikely, I'd have the movement put in a new case. And if I do ever dive, I'm set.
