Buck has a winner with this knife.
Update: After a month of use this knife is a five star bad a** blade. I love the ergonomics and the blade holds an edge and cuts like a champ. Buck Knives is back.Original review:This blade was very nice but had a couple of issues. I feel it compares favorably with ESEE but is lacking the exact fit and finish seen in my TOPS Knives. It is a light weight but solid fixed blade that carries easy and should do great in the woods or as a duty/EDC fixed blade. This would easily be a 5 star knife if not for the high price. ($145 when I purchased it)The blade itself is excellent and features a full tang, 5160 steel blade with very even grinds on both sides and is truly razor sharp out of the box. This 4" blade is a well balanced and just feels quick in hand. The top is the blade has a nice swedge running towards the tip and the blade stays thick until just before the tip. This keeps the end of the blade strong yet the tip is still extremely sharp and great at piercing. I am not worried about the heat treat as Buck has a good reputation in that area. The micarta scales are attractive but were just slightly off in that my fingernail catches on a edge if dragged from the scale to the blade. I find this on my ESEE knives as well but not on my TOPS. The handle and scales have finger grooves (choils) that are comfortable and offer a secure grip. I like that the scales can be removed with a straight blade screw driver which makes them easy to remove for cleaning, especially in the field. The kydex sheath holds the knife very firm with no rattle. Buck even put a screw with a rubber washer that can be tightened or loosened which allows you to adjust the sheath retention. This is nice as you can keep it tight in the future as it gets loose with wear. It also comes with a Bladetech Tek Lok mount that allows it to attach to a belt fast and easy. You can also set it up for right or left hand carry as well as handle up, down or horizontal. This Buck Knives "Matt Would Go" is made in the USA and features Buck Knives "Forever" warranty and a portion of the sales go to the members of the U.S. Navy SEALS and their families.

the story, the maker, and over time finding this a perfect knife - highly recommended, honored to own
this knife grows on me for a reason i didnt realize at first: weight and balance. the larger blades for military builds, bayonet like, dont have the hand control (point up or down) this one has which i suspect is Matt's DNA in here. blade down this thing is lethal. perfect kydex sheath, just right on resistance and 100% confident in its wear-ability. the teklok however i feel is a small model and could benefit with a larger version ? (fully ignorant complaint) - i may be a noob and missed something but i could only sit two screws into the teklock off the sheath anywhere. maybe that is fine and expected... i will check the buck forums for anything here but this is fully recommended knife and handles without flaw. camping, bushcraft, or security work makes its value recommended. the price can range from mid 140's so if you watch this for any dip add it immediately to your collection. on a side note there is Matt's last name written into the blade in kind of a sharpie like gold font. at first i didnt like it, then felt the meaning past my own foolish criticism and now seek out that writing every time i pick this up -- respect will just come from the physical possession of the knife. not trying to be corny but this has real meaning and seeing it past a commercial blade brings me great pleasure now. i look forward to future generations of mine picking this up and chasing the story and meaning behind that gold font thing on the blade... highly recommended. i trust Buck on the percentage of Navy Seal Foundation donations that accompanies this purchase.

Fantastic knife--second choice, but now my favorite. Thanks Buck and Matt Leathers

It was very sharp on arrival but I put it on Ultra fine DMT Diafold diamond sharpener and is now literally straight ...
The "MATT WOULD GO" knife exceeds my expectations. 5160 blade steel is a very tough steel. It was very sharp on arrival but I put it on Ultra fine DMT Diafold diamond sharpener and is now literally straight razor sharp. The ergonomics of the handle fit me perfectly and is very comfortable. Love the Micarta grips and the Kydex sheath is tension adjustable. A big plus and comes with a TEK LOC so you have a wide range of carry options. This knife is a perfect EDC knife. It can handle chores one would expect of a larger knife. This is one of my top favorite knives. I'll never part with it until I take a dirt nap. It's that good. And I like the fact that a portion of the sales proceeds go to disabled NAVY SEALS. Matthew Leathers was a highly decorated war veteran. Seeing heavy combat in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Unfortunately Matthew Leathers lost his life during training off the coast of Hawaii. Buck copied Matthews knife which the original was made by Matthew Leathers himself from parts of a junked HUMVEE because he couldn't find a knife that would perform the tasks he needed in a knife.

I'm no knife expert but I like this knife a lot
I'm no knife expert but I like this knife a lot. Nice grips, nice matte black finish, sharp edge, nice end point with lanyard hole.Feels strong yet not too heavy for quick/accurate use. Fits in my hand very nice.Approx. hand measurements:Height: 7 3/4 inches ( Measured base of palm to middle finger tip )Width: 4 inches ( Measured from middle of palm to center of thumb knuckle with fingers touching & thumb lightly pressed to side of index finger)

I was greatly disappointed, I might return it
This knife is way to small, and there were no instructions on how to put together the sheath. I was greatly disappointed, I might return it. As for a combat field knife Matt should have made it much larger. I've made knives from leaf springs and you have plenty of material to work with. Also, I couldn't cut my wrist if I wanted to, it didn't even have a decent edge on it. This is the 1st knife from Buck that I was disappointed in and I have plenty of Buck knives to back that up. I have over 800 knives in my collection, so I have some authority to fall back on.

Wow
Mal sehen, ob ich was stilechtes finde.

Very nice looking knife!
Very nice knife, don't know if it will replace my SOG SEAL Pup as my regular field knife, blade wasn't very sharp out of the box, and there was practically no point on it, but to be honest I bought it for the aesthetics and the story behind it, so it should serve it's function as a beautiful display knife very well. Overall happy with the purchase and happy to support the MAttWouldGo foundation.
