Melissa & Doug Cowboy Role Play Costume Set (5 pcs) - Includes Faux Leather Chaps

I go this as a birthday gift for our 4 year old boy. I did not pay full price and probably wouldn't just b/c at full price, something more open-ended and age-limitless would have to be chosen due to long term financial considerations. If I had an endless budget, I'd buy it at that price, too, though, but it is DURABLE, unlike most children's dress-up attire.This was a huge hit at the party. My son shared some pieces with his friend who was eaten up with jealousy b/c it looks so awesome. Fortunately it has enough pieces to share with everyone still feeling dressed up!We love that the hat is semi-crushable. He's mentioned how he can crush it and it pops back out when he puts it on his head. He thinks that is a special feature like a magic trick. The had does crease a little, which is why I say "semi". He's fine with that, though.He uses it now and then and probably will for some time. It fits a 4 year old perfectly, but seams designed to go a couple years, since the included pieces layer on top of the child's own pants and shirt.Of course you will need to buy a revolver, cause what self-respecting sheriff would walk around unarmed? A cap-gun from a Dollar General filled that need quite well.In all this was a huge success and I am relieved that the pieces look like they will all last through rough toddler plan and much on and offing. The only reason I couldn't justify the full price is just the nature of the product- it isn't going to be an everyday toy for 4 years like some toys at that price would be. I wouldn't dock any stars for that- that is just the nature of the item and a choice parents have to consider for themselves.I'd love to have more costumes of this quality and was tempted by some other products in the same line, but this one won out b/c the boys do go through cowboy phases where it is a daily thing for a while, whereas I can't see them doing that with say, a fireman. They also like the flexibility of being able to use this to be just a plain old cowboy OR the Lone Ranger OR a sheriff.

This is a great costume! The price was a little more than what I like to pay for other costumes, but the quality speaks for itself. The pants, the vest the hat, absolutely adorable. And like I said the quality it's self is great!! I bought this for my son for his cowboy birthday party and it was a hit. He now uses this costume for imaginary play, and he loves to wear the hat around the house. It's so funny because he goes into full cowboy mode! lol I will include some pictures.I will add that the "pants "are a little on the shorter side ( he's a tall now 5yr old) so for older taller kids it might look a tad too short, but honestly it's not a huge deal . Oh and also, if your kiddo has a somewhat larger nugget, the hat might be a little small, like on my kid :)

Most of the costumes I have bought for my ten year old have generally been really poor quality and barely last one night of trick-or-treating. You can never really tell either since the packaging and marketing for the items seems to have cost more than what was spent on making the costume.This costume is different in that I don't think it was made for halloween but more as a playtime dressup costume. The quality is clear and the price is fantastic. When you can buy clothing for cheaper then a costume and yet the clothing will last you years but the costume only lasts a day you have to wonder why it cost so much and the quality is so low. This this costume it just proves that it is possible to have a decently priced costume that will last.My son looked very cute on halloween and had a lot of fun. This was his first real halloween since his first was far too cold to go to more then one house, it was about 10 degrees that day. This past halloween it was in the 40s and raining but my son didn't care because all these people were giving him candy! His costume held up and he was the cutest one around. His big brother was getting rather annoyed that everyone was giving his toddler brother five times more candy.

My 5 year old grandson needed chaps for a pre-school trip to the rodeo event and these looked like a great deal and shipped very quickly. Prior reviews indicated these ran true to size or a little large, but I did not find that to be the case. My grandson is pretty skinny and these were too small to sit at his natural waist line. However, they were adorable and exceptionally well made, and reasonably priced so I just added an extension piece in the back of the waist belt and they looked great.

My son wanted to be a cowboy for halloween, this costume came and it was perfect! It had all the needed items, so didn't have to buy a bunch of extra pieces. It fit great and is the cutest! He has been wearing it for play and halloween and it is holding up very good, and can be used for dress up play for a long time. Love the Melissa and Doug Costume Sets!

When I bought this, I knew it was going to be too small for my actor, but I thought I'd give it a shot anyway. The costume is well made, which allowed our theater's seamstress to actually take it apart and add on so we could use it. It's a very attractive costume, and well built--which is great since our little actor is a typical boy and it needed to hold up for several rehearsals and 3 shows. I'm very pleased and would recommend.

Both my son and daughter love this costume and took turns wearing it to Halloween events. They wear 4T to 5 and fits both fine. Pieces are durable and easy to get on and off (Velcro). I paired it with jeans and flannel shirt to complete the look. Since there are several "stars" on the costume, it would also work well if kid wants to pretend to be a sheriff.FYI--I've washed the bandana several times in the washing machine with other clothes and it still looks good.

Good quality. Bought it for my 3yo son and it is too big for him but we were able to fold up the chaps and pin them in place for him to wear. I think he’ll be able to wear it as he grows into it over the next 2-3 years.

Super cute, great quality, fits my 4 year old nephew perfectly. We have 3 Melissa and Doug costumes and have loved them all. They last through the wear and tear of kids!

Très petit. C’est pour un enfant 3-5 ans sur l’emballage. La grandeur sur le site est erroné. Mais c’est un beau produit. Dommage de devoir le retourner.
