Much larger than expected, but that's what you get for having 30ft of test-lead wire at your disposal. I would just be a bit careful with pulling the wires out from the reel because there is no strain relief. The wires are just soldered into the alligator clips, with no mechanical crimp.But now you can have a nice reel that stores a lot of test-lead wire together, and it keeps it all neat. The magnet really makes it easy to store, like on the side of your tool chest. I have provided photos below to show size comparison (to a used roll of electrical tape), as well as close ups of the alligator clip construction.The max ampacity of the wire is 10Amps, if the wire is unrolled from the reel. If all of the wire is kept within the reel, the ampacity is lowered to 6Amps, due to heat. I would definitely buy again.

It’s durable and easy to use. The 30 feet is definitely necessary when working on heavy duty semi’s and I put it all to use! Great find.

This comes in really handy for working on cars, boats, and Motorhome's. I've used this to to provide a good power and ground when using a test light or logic probe Under a vehicle, or far from the battery on a boat or Motorhome. The magnet works great for attaching to frame rail when working under a vehicle.

Great for what it does and how it stores. Strong enough magnet to be reliable, plenty of length for anything automotive (including trailers). As handy a tool as I would hoping it would be!My ONLY reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because the design could be improved. If the spinning part was the front instead of the back, or even if the magnet was on the front instead, then you could wind/unwind it without having to hold it (which is a little tricky). Since it’s the back that spins when winding/unwinding, you can’t pull the cord out or wind them up while attached to a magnetic surface because the back will spin and potentially scratch the paint.

My only dislike on this item is that you have to roll out both leads every time you want to use it. Other than that it is phenomenal!

I was replacing the wiring harness in a 1970 VW bug. There were 2 red wires that I needed to trace so I could connect to the right places. Problem was one end of the wire was under the back seat and the other in the front/trunk. Using this retractable test lead I could trace out the wires and figure it out. Nice that the reel has a magnet so I could stick it to the body. Sure glad I bought this.

This is a must have tool for those that have a need for it. I purchased it shortly after needing such a tool while troubleshooting a system at work. Soon after buying it I also needed it for ringing out a circuit at home. Right tool for the right job.Don't delay any longer when it comes to considering this addition to your tool set.

Have multiple technicians at work have this or similar and find myself all ways asking for these to borrow. It's time invest in one but want one with the magnet. The other A & E 1129 doesn't come with a magnet and is only 10 feet. This one is 30 feet and has magnet at the base. The only problem with this one is, this one is twice the price so i did hesitate to purchase. When i did receive it, much larger than expected but awesome that it is 30 feet as on larger trucks it can unwind to the back of the vehicle. This has to the most useful tool i have used it a while as i get the whole point of the Powerprobe where you have a power and ground in your hand but this can do a step further. Meaning when i connect the leads (red and black) to the battery i now have a good ground and good power source. It's becoming increasing difficult to find a ground underneath a vehicle due to plastic pieces or under coat so having the good ground source for testing it awesome. The magnet is especially nice because i just stick it underneath my hoist arm and now the unit doesn't touch the ground in water and dirt. I have seen these come with 3 sets of leads but found really no use for the third lead but using one with 3 leads you need to pull out all them. I personally love this because i can illuminate the entire vehicle harness for testing. One lead at one end and the other at the other end and connect a multimeter and measure resistance. Excessive resistance or O.L then i know i have a broken wire or high resistance. Fantastic use for this tool, and many uses for it. The alligator clips are small and sometimes hard to connect to a battery but it's workable. Unwinding is not a challenge, pull both ends and set to the desired length. Winding up, takes some time but it's not impossible. The only con i would have to say is when unwinding to it's max length, sometimes the wire likes to pull out from the bottom of the coil. So it makes it impossible to wind up, a simple fix i found is the wires sticking out at the base. Use a zip-tie around them (a decent size one) and when unwound to make length it stops and holds on the zip-tie.Otherwise overall, a very helpful and useful tool. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase this as this could be save hours of diagnosing.
