Its oil. I assumed that it was better oil than the usual name brands. But, how do I really know.

My one and only oil
I have been using Amsoil for as long as I can remember. I even use their product in the rear axle as the lubricant. Oil is the life line of a vehicles engine and I want the best and believe Amsoil is that product.

Amsoil is among the best lubricants available. If you can afford it, I'd say use it.

Great oil for air cooled engines
I put this oil in all of my 4 stoke air cooled engines. They run great and I have never had a problem with them. A lot of people will just stick any motor oil they have lying around the house in their lawn mowers and small engines, not knowing why they should put specific oil in them. Air cooled engines run hotter than automobile engines and they require different additives in the oil to help them lubricate better. One of those additives is Zinc, which they don't put a lot of in standard motor oil. Zinc helps in lubrication of mechanical parts and Amsoil puts more Zinc in this oil to help reduce wear on the engine. This oil is a commercial grade synthetic oil which means that it is rated for longer run times before needing to be changed. Most air cooled engines require you to change the oil after 25 hours of use. Amsoil has tested this oil to last up to 200 hours before needing to be changed. I wouldn't recommend that, but it's nice to know that it can go that long. So if you don't like changing your oil in your lawnmower, this might be your answer. I didn't buy my oil on Amazon, I bought it straight from Amsoil website for a lot less money about $12 to $13 per quart. In conclusion, I would highly recommend this oil for your 4 stroke air cooled engines. It has never fail me and my lawn mower is 20 years old and still going strong.

44 dollars for 1qt of oil is too much. It's 13 dollars per quart direct from amsoil..
