Superb quality
Mine came with the hook unable to go over the pins. They were a like new returned item already. I can see otherwise the quality is great. I have many gripon locking pliers, always good until this one. It could be previous customer squeezed the hook tighter who knows. Had to return, unusable without bending open the hook a little. They don’t open to 6”, that’s a mistake.

It's a pretty good tool the cutting blades could be a bit sharper
I like the overall design the fact that it works like a pair of vice grips is very convenient for getting your tool set to the pipe you're going to cut and then with the butterfly screw at the end to tighten it as you're cutting is very nice so you don't have to get an extra wrench I have used this on exhaust pipe seems to work very well although could be a little sharper in the cutting blades other than that I like it pretty well

GREAT FOR THIN PIPES
BOUGHT IT FOR PLUMBING JOBS AROUND THE HOUSE. WORKED GREAT FOR THIN TO MEDIUM PIPES, BUT NOT SO MUCH FOR THE THICKER PIPES. OVERALL, STILL A GOOD TOOL TO HAVE.

Horrible Tool! Does not perform as described and was not received as pictured.
The chain links are too loose to get an accurate and even cut. Because of the slop in the links some cutting dist bite in higher or lower than the others. It tried to thread the pipe rather than make a single clean cut. An absolute waste of time and money. And the tool I received did not have the "t-handle" adjuster pictured but rather a thumb wheel.

It's the only worthwhile manual pipe cutter that I've ever seen.
If you order a manual pipe cutter this item is the only one you would choose. This cutter separates the men from the boys. I happen to be a fabrication mechanic and I've done it all my life 35 plus years so I know a good product when I use it. Also I rarely recommend anything.

It works but...
I found two limitations with the tool. Chain-type tubing cutters are supposed to cut tube even when there are obstructions on one side of the tube, such as an exhaust pipe under a car. However, at least when cutting stainless tube, only the cutting wheels near the handle would cut. Those on the opposite side of the tube would not. The second problem was with the threaded adjuster. The female thread is cut into a piece of thin plate that is folded over and welded to itself. The thread is probably a class 2 or less (not very strong) and strips easily. Be sure to release the tool before tightening the adjuster.

Solid unit
The cutter wheels could be a little larger. You can’t crank down on the chain or else it will dent the pipe instead of cut the pipe. Then it will bottom out on the chain body. I haven't quite figured out the right combination as I have always had to finish with a cut off wheel. But this gives me a some what straight line to cut on.

False description
It states 6 1/4” capacity. No way this can not fit 4” copper pipe.

did not work well in my application
Well, it held promise I was able to make the cuts that I needed, but they did not turn out very well. Cutting 3 inch copper pipe in a very difficult Tate location. And the second cut was worse than the first one, even though I was being much more gentle

A pipe cutter for tight places
This tool is good for cutting up to 4" pipe. I only intend it to cut ABS in tight places since I have to re-do some existing plumbing to satisfy code. It cuts without having to move the handle all the way around. The main complaint is that the !/4" cutting depth is barely enough for the ABS drain pipes, but it does leave a clean square edge unlike a reciprocating saw...ready to glue in new fittings.
