Silentaire Super Silent DR-150 Whisper Quiet Airbrush Compressor

Yes, this is an expensive product, but as other customers have mentioned, it is extremely quiet. I actually have a note. Posted in my area. Reminded me to turn it off before stopping for the day. Excellent product.

Silentaire is a good company, unfortunately the AMAZON return policy is terrible. Just outside my return window the compressor started leaking oil through a pressure release valve. Typically this is the result of one of several possibilities then eliminated until only one was left - there was a defect in the product. A simple exchange would have been fine. However, Silentaire cannot do any more than advise me on the symptoms, the reseller cannot honor me, its "protected" under the amazon umbrella of crap. So, I called Amazon, asked for an exchange and was told this product is no longer returnable or cannot be exchanged. They offered a refund of half the price I paid for it. With no other options I accepted. I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE A REFUND. No email, no money. Nothing but crap. Avoid buying anything of significance on Amazon. Their word is crap, they don't care, you will get screwed.

i've had mine for a few years now and it has been a dream. a little intimidated to change the oil but eventually i will have to. i would recommend this if you don't want to wake your neighbors with your compressor.

First off, I cannot recommend this thing highly enough. I had been using an entry level compressor and as long as I had earbuds in, it wasn't deafening, but definitely couldn't use it with anyone else around. This one on the other hand is literally quieter than the air leaving the airbrush. My friend hadn't even realized I'd switched it on while he was right next to me. I did however take off a star because while diagrams show there being a hole to add oil, there's no such hole, so you'll need to remove the top via nuts and bolts. Technically they include a hose, but that was a mild disaster almost immediately. Save yourself the trouble and just take off the top cover from the get go, cause it's what you'll have to do anyways. I put my cover back on because I like the look better, but I know I'll have to take it off again when topping off oil.

This thing is amazing. It is so quiet. It fills up fast. Do your self a favor and remove the 4 bolts and remove the top with the handle to make it easier to fill with oil. We were watching tv when I turned it on the first time and my wife didn't believe me that it was on it was so quiet. It sprays perfect with no real drop in pressure even when it kicks in to refill.

EDIT: Adding to review: This item was defective and returned back to Amazon. Amazon received the item on December 10. A refund was promised by December 25. That did not happen. We contacted Amazon on December 26, a refund was assured to us. That did not happen. We contacted them 2 business days later after not getting any email or otherwise confirmation and were promised again. We had to contact Amazon a third time, January 3 and were promised again. We will update if we do not get a refund. This is unacceptable. Amazon bot will cross out this text saying everything is handled by them but they now have had the return delivered back to them and we are still waiting for our money back. I have been a professional airbrush artist for over 40 yrs and dealt with many compressors over the years but this one was a lemon. It arrived with a defective high pressure valve leak could not be reset leaked from base, Cylinder head assembly not bolted down remotely secure flopping back and fourth. Minor issue but aggravating is the casing had a cross threaded screw. Filled with oil as directed ran the compressor, it was extremely quiet so quiet all you heard was the leaking of the pressure valve. Simply put ZERO quality control on this unit. Unit appeared new just not assembled correctly and due to failure to tighten bolts resulted in damage to valve. No way to return for a replacement so I now have to wait a month or more for the return of my money. I would like to receive one actually in perfect condition properly assembled with NO defects to provide an actual users review. I hear when they are put together correctly they are actually quite good.

This machine is amazing. It’s so quiet I can run it all night and not disturb neighbors (I live in an apartment), sleepers in my apartment, or my cats sleeping nearby. It makes about as much noise as a new refrigerator. I thought I paid a lot for it, but knowing it as I do now I would have paid more for it than I did.
