very interesting series
Home in Carolina: Sweet Magnolias Book 5 is by Sherryl Woods. Sherryl makes a point of keeping her books full of activity as the Sweet Magnolias go about their business in Serenity, South Carolina. This book deals with broken hearts and broken promises. Can those ever be forgiven?Annie Sullivan and Tyler Townsend had been together through their school years. First it was Annie just toddling after Ty as he played until they had vowed to stay together even though they were going to different colleges. Ty had seen Annie through her bout with anorexia. Now, he was playing pro baseball and she was a physical therapist. Then Ty had done the unthinkable, he has cheated on her and to add to that, he now had a three-year-old baby to care for. Their story played out in the tabloids and made it impossible for Annie to forgive him. She decided to come home to start work here..Then, Ty hurt his arm and came to Serenity to recover. How can they stay in the same town? Can she ever forgive him?

Good read!
Sherryl Wood's fifth volume in the Sweet Magnolia series, "Home in Carolina" jumps forward three or four years from this previous volume. This time the focus is on Ty and Annie, the children of Maddie and Dana Sue, two of the Sweet Magnolias. Friends since childhood then gradually moving into a romantic relationship, Ty and Annie had seemed destined for "happily ever after." Then Ty's career as a star picture for the Atlanta Braves and the temptation of ever-present young, beautiful, and sexually enticing female groupies pulled the couple apart. When one young woman became pregnant with Ty's child, Annie shut the door on the relationship forever. Now Ty is back in Serenity needing re-hab for a career-threatening shoulder and with his three year old son, abandoned by his mother in infantry, in tow. As in the case of past romantic relationships in this series, everything seems back and forth and up and down for chapter after chapter. At least this volume provides satisfying stabilization of the relationship, not like poor Tom and Jeanette's which was left a little unclear at the end of the last volume. They receive scant mention in this volume beyond a vague statement acknowledging the couple's marriage. One of the side storylines in this volume centers on Helen's relationship with her mother whose broken hip results in her residing with Helen and Erik during her recovery, thus providing a challenge for mother and daughter relationships. In addition, Wood's sets up the next generation of Sweet Magnolias as Annie's childhood friends, Sarah and Raynelle, coming back into the picture each dealing with problems and issues that call for the love and support that only long-time friends can provide. As always, even with some frustrations, Wood's tales of Serenity and the Sweet Magnolias make for enjoyable reading.

What a good book!
Home in Carolina is a delightful read. It keeps one’s interest from beginning to end. Sherryl Woods is such a good writer. Her words depict each scene and emotions extremely well. She tells a story without resorting to foul language. It is so refreshing to read a book that unfolds into such a delightful opportunity.

Loved this book. A love story of betrayal, heartbreak and a very difficult and challenging road to forgiveness with truthful and supportive family and friends for/to both individuals.

Home in Carolina
I read this book as part of the series of course, but also to see what all the low scores were about from other readers... one critic said Ty cheated many times, another critic said that there was too much cheating, yet another one said that she hated weak women who stuck with these cheating men! I must say I had to laugh.Sheryll Woods has a formula, most of her books at least in this series are written in the same way, which is ok because you want to see how they get out of the situation and finally get the girl. Ty had one weak moment which brought a little boy into the book and a lot of heartache, for himself and the females involved. The women are not weak at all, one is an attorney, one runs a spa, one owns a top notch restaurant, and the second generation female is a physical therapist. So think on that......these are not a bunch of characters who are not working and being involved in the community, they are living very complicated lives just as we are.I think this book was good as a part of a continuing group of books involving one tiny town in South Carolina. If you enjoy books with kooky but fun characters, give this series a go...........but start at the first one and not the last one like i did! Sheryll is good at what she does which is tell at tale.

Great, fast read
I've been following the Sweet Magnolia's series since the first book (Stealing Home). By following the series it makes you more sympathetic to the characters in this book, Annie and Ty. I think if you've also followed the Sweet Magnolia's series, you'll enjoy reading the book and finding out what's up with characters you've met in prior books. I believe this book is the best one out of the series so far. I read it in a day and a half! Some reviewers did not like the book just because of the cheating involved. While I would not have made the decision Annie did, to stay with Ty, I enjoy reading Woods' book anyway. Other reviewers also complained that they thought Annie was an annoying character. I have a BA in psychology. I personally feel Woods accurately portrays Annie's character of a young woman with an eating disorder. Woods addresses many issues that women, and the society at large, face today. This includes cheating. Perhaps if cheating and eating disorders are not your cup of tea, you should not read Woods's books. However, if you keep an open mind, you'll enjoy the book as I have.

Sherryl Woods in one of the best writer!
Sherryl Woods in one of the best writer!!! I've completely enjoyed her series, the Sweet Magnolias. Her reading is very soft, very captivating and almost personal on a number of levels. Her books have many different emotions from happy, sad, financial struggles, breakups, reunions, new families, new babies, sick parents, sick friends, anorexia...and many more of the everyday experiences of many folks. A great read for all ages!!!!
